Any tool in a player's inventory will slowly repair itself over time, provided it is enchanted with mending.
This does not replace the XP repair function of the mending enchantment.
I wrote this for myself, for a 1.19.0 save. I have not tested it on any other versions, but it may work for any version 1.19.x
Requires Fabric API and fabric loader 0.14.8+
