A way to pass an item through a machine, and the ability to add, remove, transfer, or perform a function on NBT or data values for the item.

Some examples:

A recipe which will process materials at the cost of X tool durability rather than energy or fuel

A recipe which uses a fluid to restore tool durability

A machine which removes all the enchantments from a tool and puts them onto an enchanted book.
