An upgrade would be added that has a similar configuration process to the sync upgrade. When a router with the upgrade wakes up from eco mode and exits eco mode, all other routers with the same upgrade will exit eco mode at the same time.

Reasons why it should be considered

Often times you can set up a system that is largely inactive but when active you want to process quickly. Because of eco mode you may have say an input and output router that will never be off eco mode at the same time, thus a processing step may take 5+ seconds when it could be much faster if routers were never on eco mode in the first place. Of course, never turning on eco mode can long term lead to server overhead.
