just smelt sandy clay compound in primitive grill to get kiln bricks
I'll write a guide later

Ans do the iron chunks go into the kiln oven? Right clicking on them doesn't put them inside unlike with sand blocks.

You can put only blocks of raw iron/copper/gold in the Kiln
Also u can use REI to see Recipes

the only thing that ive been able to grab so far is the club, fire sticks, and flint shovle(this was after half an hour).

You need to shift-right click on it with empty hand

Flint is obtained from gravel, if other mods didn't change loottable for gravel
