Quiver

Are you a keen archer? Sick of fighting with the UI to switch between regular and enchanted arrows? Do you like to switch between enchanted arrows and your shield as you dive into melee range? You need Quiver! Quiver is 100% client-side and doesn't need to be added to the server.

Quiver lets you choose hotkeys (default [ and ]) to switch between arrows and your shield in your off-hand, and gives you a bar to display how many arrows you have left. You can also hold down alt and use the mouse scroll-wheel.

If you want to see it in action, check out Boodlyneck's Fabric Mods of the Week video at at 9:11 mark. From the review: "To be honest, I can't think of a good reason NOT to use this mod."

Please give me feedback! Do you wish the quiver also let you swap in torches? Do you desperately want it to have a redstone mode where it switches between which redstone item you're holding in your offhand? Is there something you need to be configurable because you just can't stand the default I've provided? Drop me a comment and I'll either implement it right away, implement it eventually, or do nothing. (But seriously, ideas are welcome.)

Quiver currently requires the Fabric mod loader and supports only Minecraft 1.15.2 and up.

Minecraft with an additional hotbar containing arrows and a shield on the left.

Roadmap:

  • Configurable quiver bar location
  • Ensure quiver bar renders behind chat text (fixed in 1.16.x releases)
  • An icon I spent longer than 90 seconds on
  • Fix a known issue when you have two identical (size and type) stacks of arrows (probably also if you have more than one shield)
  • Configure whether to include shield (or torches?) in quiver
  • Configurable mod-key for scrolling through quiver.
