Red Panda: Reborn is a remake of my first and currently only publisched Minecraft mod Aco's Red Panda. It adds different variants of Red Pandas into the game, granting special effects to their owners.
This mods content includes:
- 3 Red Panda variants: Red Panda, Golden Panda (rare albino version, inspired by Super Marios golden Tanuki suit) and the Old Panda from the original mod
- all Panda variants in buckets
- Panda Locator, an item that gives all Red Panda variants a glow effect for a few seconds (only available in creative)
- Time amulet: Crafted with a chain, lapis, redstone and a clock, this item allows you to convert a tamed Red Panda into the Old Panda
- 4 new achievements
Red Pandas and Golden Pandas can be found in almost any kind of jungle biome and can be tamed with bamboo. However even if tamed they won't teleport after their owner or follow them, like Dogs do. You can put them into buckets for easy transport (but only if tamed), gving the player a small speed boost as well. However you'll have to re-tame the Panda after releasing it (names from nametags will get removed).
Even the normal Red Pandas can be difficult to find, but they usually spawn in groups of 2.
The normal Red Panda is now breedable! The babies take 10 minutes to grow up (leaving render distance will pause the growing timer) and Golden Pandas can not be obtained through breeding to make them more rare and to not encourage players to do selective breeding.
Players can right click on tamed Red Pandas with Golden Appels or Golden Carrots to receive different effects. The Red Pandas are supposed to stay out of combat, that is why the effects are limited to utility/farming, such as luck, haste, as well as invisibility, which allows you to avoid combat.
The models and textures are all made by me, the sounds used are from the Foxes in the base game (because I don't know anything about sound design and the Foxes in MC sound kinda similiar to Red Pandas).
This mod was made with MCreator, which is a great program for making simple mods and if you don't know much about programming/coding. The models and textures were made with Blockbench.
I tried upgrading the mod to 1.18, but it broke all the models and textures.
1.16.5 will be the only version for now.
CUT CONTENT
A lot of the contet that was originally planned for this mod got removed, because it either wasn't vanilla enough, in my opinion, or encouraged the player to kill and hunt the Pandas.
- Item: Red Panda tail
- Item: Bucket with cooked Red Panda (consuming this item was supposed to give the player negative effects but it ended up crashing the game every time it was eaten...)
- Item Bamboo Bag: Could hold 9 stacks of bamboo but nothing else
- Achievement: Killing a Golden Panda
- Recipe: Panda Locator, originally crafted with orange dye, 6 iron, netherite ingot and dragon breath
