Being eyeless won't save you from a Medusa from Ice and Fire because it expects the blindness potion effect. Can this effect be applied to blind people?

So it turns out I was wrong about Ice and Fire's Gorgon (it is doing a strict check for the blindfold item worn on the head slot- I've raised an issue over there but I don't expect anything to update for 1.12.2), but at least now players cannot cheese the blindness status by pressing F1 to remove the HUD. Minecraft's Blindness effect persists in F1 view but the old effect didn't.

also, I thought Medusa, the gorgon, was supposed to make you a stone statue, not simply blind you in greek mythology?

In Ice and Fire, you wear a blindfold around your eyes which afflicts you with the Blindness effect. This is what the Gorgon checks for when it decides whether looking at you will turn you to stone.
