The Realm Of Dark Chaos - A huge new dimension with a focus on adventure and exploration!

The Realm Of Dark Chaos - Black Magic, Dark Chaos and Ancient Evil!

This mod adds a huge amount of content to the game - to be precise it adds an entirely new dimension, including all sorts of new things! This new dimension has a focus on exploration and adventure - in the Realm Of Dark Chaos lots of new challenges await you - new structures to explore, new enemies, new bosses - an entirely new, foreign looking world! It also features entirely new ores, that can be used to craft new armors and tools and many other cool new items, for example new powerful magical weapons! Do you feel like you've seen everything vanilla minecraft has to offer, or is the vanilla experience just not challenging enough for you? In that case I've got good news for you, as this mostly hostile foreign world has you covered!

The latest version of this mod works for Minecraft Version: 1.16.5

The port to 1.16 is finally done! I ported the mod to Minecraft version 1.16.4, but it also works with version 1.16.5 (atleast I didnt find any bugs, do report bugs should you find any!), so that is that!

I did test this mod on a server and it should work just fine in multiplayer, however I didn't do extensive testing, so if anything breaks/doesn't work correctly feel free to open an issue/just drop me a message!

Since I have been asked, this is a Forge Mod! All of my mods are, and will be, Forge Mods!

First of all, if you like my mod, then please support me by following me on my twitter or subscribing to my Youtube (I am an Indie Dev, so especially check my Twitter out for my other games and for stuff I post about games/mods I currently am developing!):

Important Questions and Answers:

Cool new dimension, but how do I get there?

There's a section on building a portal to the Realm Of Dark Chaos below, just check that out to find out how the portal is built!

I can't wait to get to that new dimension! How far do I have to play through vanilla minecraft to finally get there?

You can get there fairly early on, but you will have to play through a good bit of vanilla minecraft. You need to be able to access the Nether, as Nether Quartz is needed to construct a portal! More on that in the portal section of this page. Other than that, I recommend to only embark on your adventure into the Realm Of Dark Chaos when you are actually ready, as this Dimension is very hostile. A good rule of thumb is - if it is alive (again), it will probably try to kill you, so keep that in mind. I recommend (depending on the difficulty you play on) to atleast have a full iron armor, for hard difficulty probably a full diamond armor before entering the Realm Of Dark Chaos!

Sounds good, but I've got some other concerns! Is this mod compatible with other mods? Is it a core mod? Does it heavily modify the overworld? Something like that?

If this is a concern to you then I have some good news for you my friend, this mod is not a coremod, soit should work fine with all/almost all other mods out there! And no, it does not heavily modify the overworld. In fact, the overworld is pretty much untouched by this mod!

Man I can't shake the feeling that this setting sort of feels familiar! Are there any inspirations for this mod?

Yes, there are. This mod is heavily inspired by Doom and Quake (mainly Quake), as I am a huge Doom and Quake fan. I always liked the dark gloomy castles and twisted magic worlds of Quake and one day I figured, that that might make for a fun Minecraft Mod, so I got to work!

Content:

Hey, it's time for the good stuff, great! Let me preface this though: This section will contain content spoilers, but I'll try to mark those appropriately so you don't just accidentally stumble into them. Obviously if you want to go into this dimension blindly, skip everything except for the guide on building a portal!

Building a portal:

Just like the Nether or The End, to get to the Realm Of Dark Chaos you have to travel there by using a portal! Now, how do you build this portal? Well that's quite simple, actually.

You will need:
-An empty bucket
-Access to Lapis Lazuli
-A spider eye

-Access to nether quartz

Got all of those things? Good! Then get ready to meet the first new creature added by this mod!
First of all, you will have to craft a "Suspicious Glowing Eye" like so:

Got that? Great! Next you need to go and find a cow! Found one? Great! Rightclick it while having the Glowing Eye in hand! It should now convert and turn into a different looking cow... that will try to attack you! Oh boy! I sure hope you have that bucket of yours ready, as you now will have to milk that cow by rightclicking it. That way you get the new liquid added by this mod... a bucket of blood!

Alright, now you're almost ready to light your portal and travel to the Realm Of Dark Chaos! Excited^^? All you have to do now is build the portal frame and light it! How you ask?
The portal frame is built out of Quartz Blocks! That's right, vanilla Nether Quartz Blocks, you get those by simply combining Quartz in the Crafting Grid! Build the Portal Frame like you would build the frame for a Nether Portal, then use your Bucket of Blood on it the same way you would use a Flint and Steel on a Nether Portal to light it! There you go, that's how you create the portal to this new Dimension!

Biomes:

As I said, I'll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible!

Corrupted Plains

This biome is probably the least challenging of all of the biomes that you will encounter in the Realm Of Dark Chaos! It features some caves, overall rather flat terrain wiht some small hills or mountains occasionally. You will also be able to find some structures here, some small, some big. During Daytime, most of the creatures living here are, while they are aggressive, rather harmless. Unlike the Overworld, the surface here seems to not be made up of grass and dirt, instead it seems to be made up of what seems to be soil that has been corrupted by black magic. The grass seems to have suffered the same fate, as it is equally discolored by corruption and seems to be slowly rotting away. Miasma also seems to be in the air wherever longer bits of grass managed to last.

Mountains of Lost Hope

This biome looks very similiar to the Corrupted Plains Biome, however unlike the Plains Biome the terrain usually is very bumpy and in most cases features huge mountains. It generally is a bad idea to go exploring in the mountains, as the creatures living here are rather aggressive and somewhat strong, so stay cautious when exploring! You will be able to also find some structures here, however most of them tend to be rather small, so it would probably be smart to instead just stay away from the mountains whenever possible!

Spiky Mountains of Lost Hope

In some places the terrain seems to be much more volatile and spiky than in others, resulting in very high and spiky mountains that are very difficult and dangerous to explore!

Ash Desert of the Lost Souls

A desert, made up of... sand. Or is it? Wait, is that really sand? No, no it isn't at all. These huge deserts are made up of the ashes of the deprived, the remains of poor souls, whose spirit wasn't strong enough to last after somehow stumbling upon this cursed domain. Unless you come prepared, you should probably stay away from the deserts, as they probably are one of the most dangerous places in the Realm Of Dark Chaos. Oh, but it's just a desert, so why would it be dangerous I hear you ask. Well, let's just say... some of those souls decided their time to rest has not come yet...
Eventhough this is probably the most dangerous biome in the Realm Of Dark Chaos, I do advise you to go here once you are prepared, as it probably contains (among other structures) the big structure you want to explore first, before the other big structures...

Rotwood Forest

Between the mostly empty Corrupted Plains and Mountains of Lost Hope, Rotwood Forests can be found! These forests consist of Rotwood Trees, which are, similiar to pretty much everything else in this dimension, trees that seem to be healthy eventhough they actually are half rotten and keep slowly rotting away. These dark forests seem to be especially attractive for Chaos Skeletons and Witches, as usually many of them can be spotted in and around these cursed woods.

River of Blood

This biome is nothing special, "just" a river of blood. It doesn't feature anything notable, no structures or special creatures.

Structures:

Surface Structures:

Ashstone Desert Ruins

Hidden in the ashes of the desert, you sometimes find these weird ruins. What could this have been or resembled before it fell apart into the rubble and debris it is now?

Sacrificial Altars

A strange small monument. These seem to be scattered throughout the world and can be found in all kinds of places. The area around these monuments seems to generally be somewhat peaceful. But why are they here? Who are they created for? A ruler? A deity? The altars seem to be abandoned either way. So surely the goods that were sacrificed to who or whatever this altar was created for found in the chest next to it surely won't be missed by anyone if you take them for yourself, after all you could use them!

Forest Shrines

Similiar in nature to the sacrificial altars, these shrines can sometimes be found in the Rotwood Forests. While it is unclear as to who or what deity these shrines are dedicated to, they seem to potentially be places of worship of some kind. Either way, the goods that were sacrificed here surely won't be missed by anyone anytime soon, so make sure you take anything that could be of use to you whenever you run into one of these!

Mountain Shrines

In the Rotwood Forests you will sometimes run into Forest Shrines, however in the Mountains of Lost Hope you instead will instead sometimes run into Mountain Shrines! While it is unclear as to who or what deity these shrines are dedicated to, they seem to potentially be places of worship of some kind. Either way, the goods that were sacrificed here surely won't be missed by anyone anytime soon, so make sure you take anything that could be of use to you whenever you run into one of these!

Graveyards

As you wander the lands of this realm, you keep coming across these weird graveyards every once in a while. The ash deserts seem to be endless... but not everyone seems to end up there. Some probably notable people seem to instead get buried properly in these graveyards. Some of the graveyards are big, some of them are small. But who were these people? Powerful Magicians? Brave Warriors? Since nobody is around to tell you about their tales, you figure you won't find out anytime soon. Some of them seem to have gotten buried with their worldy possessions though, which is something you indeed can find. It also looks like some of the people buried in these graveyards seem to decide that they don't actually want to stay dead... so be cautious!

Summoning Circles

What's this? A huge, round stone structure built out of chaos bricks and ashstone. It looks like dark rituals take place here. You can sense the presence of lots of evil spirits nearby, so instead of staying here for long amounts of time you probably should get going quickly instead. Looks like there's some loot to be found here though, so there is that...

Big/Notable/Rare Structures

Castle Of Dark Chaos

After stumbling blindly through the ash deserts, you notice something in the distance that seems to resemble a castle. Getting closer to it, you can feel pure evil emanate from every single brick of this castle. As you enter it, shudders go down your spine, again you feel the presence of many evil spirits. Who might be the ruler of this sinister place? You notice that a lot of loot seems to be stashed away in the chests of this castle, but deep down you can't shake the feeling something far more evil than all of the other spirits that dwell in this place seems to be watching your every step in the castle, trapped inside it, waiting for a fool that will release it...

Chaos Temple

After days of travelling the deserts, plains and mountains of this realm, you come across this big structure. It resembles some sort of... temple? Maybe you will find out who all these altars are built for after all? Other than huge pillars, two towers and a central platform, nothing too notable seems  to be here though, tough luck, no answers to your questions. You do however find some loot in the chests of the temple. Huh, how weird, why would there be so many valuables left behind in this huge, abandoned structure? Nobody seems to be here. The air inside reeks of evil spirits though... and normally temples have some kind of priest, right? Surely there is no such thing with this temple... or is there? Surely not, you assure yourself, while the greater evil trapped in this ancient structure observe your every move...

Underground Structures:

Big/Notable/Rare Structures

Ancient Chaos Demon Prison

Deep underground, while wandering caves and digging mineshafts you sometimes stumble upon these weird... caves? No, those aren't caves. Their walls are red, and they seem to pulsate, sort of like a... heart? What kind of place is this? After walking inside, you feel pure fear taking over every cell of your body - a block is floating midair, in the middle of the room. A spirit seems to be trapped inside of it, and judging by the unmatched, absolute pure evil that is emanating off of it, whatever is trapped inside of it is probably best left alone, as it is has to be the most powerful and evil creature you have encountered in this domain. Now you understand. This is not some random room with living walls. This is a prison, created for the most powerful of demons.

Creatures and Mobs:

Vanilla Mobs:

Not every mob that can be found in the Realm Of Dark Chaos is an entirely new and unique mob! Some of the mobs actually are regular vanilla mobs!
You will encounter the following vanilla mobs:
Bats: Just like in the regular overworld, in caves underground you will occasionally run into some bats! They are absolutely harmless!
Witches: In the Overworld usually witches tend to stick to their huts and only very rarely can be encountered elsewhere. In the Realm Of Dark Chaos however they are pretty much everywhere, well atleast underground. And during nighttime they, just like the chaos zombies that usually hide underground, come out of their caves to the surface!

(Hostile) Animals:

Corrupted Cow:

Name: Corrupted Cow
Description: Not your average cow! Unlike regular cows, this cow is hostile and indeed will attempt to kill you! It also will "follow" you free of charge, no wheat needed... for obvious reasons! Oh, and it can be milked, resulting in a bucket of blood (which is needed to create the portal to the Realm Of Dark Chaos!)
Where can you find it: Corrupted Plains (Surface), convert a regular cow
Combat Stats:
HP: 20
Armor: 1
Attack Damage: 4
Drops: (Cooked) Steak, Leather

Hellpig:

Name: Hellpig
Description: A pig... from hell! Just like there is a corrupted counterpart of the cow in the Realm Of Dark Chaos, there also is one of the Pig, which is the Hellpig. Just like the cow it is rather weak though. That's about it, nothing too notable or special about this pig (other than the fact that it will indeed try to kill you, just like the cow ofcourse). It is slightly faster than the cow.
Where can you find it: Corrupted Plains (Surface)
Combat Stats:
HP: 18
Armor: 1
Attack Damage: 4
Drops: (Cooked) Porkchop

Monsters:

Chaos Zombie:

Name: Chaos Zombie
Description: You won't encounter any of the regular Overworld Zombies in the Realm Of Dark Chaos! Instead you will encounter Chaos Zombies! As you might be able to tell by their robes, these are no regular zombies, instead they are undead cultists, who are a good bit stronger than your average zombie due to their magic powers!
Where can you find it: Underground (pretty much everywhere), or on the Surface (again, pretty much everywhere) during nighttime!
Combat Stats:
HP: 24
Armor: 3
Attack Damage: 4
Drops: Rotten Flesh, very rarely some "Loot" Items (Ingots etc.)

Dark Chaos Zombie:

Name: Dark Chaos Zombie
Description: As you might notice, Dark Chaos Zombies look very similiar to regular Chaos Zombies, apart from a few minor differences, like the fact, that their robes are stitched together with gold seams! You will on average encounter these a bit more rarely, as they are undead cultists aswell, however they are more powerful than regular Chaos Zombies, as their magic powers are even stronger!
Where can you find it: Underground (pretty much everywhere), or on the Surface (again, pretty much everywhere) during nighttime!
Combat Stats:
HP: 30
Armor: 3.5 (I'm not sure whether Minecraft even takes the .5 armor value into account tbh)
Attack Damage: 5
Drops: Rotten Flesh, very rarely some (better) "Loot" Items (Ingots etc.)

Chaos Skeleton:

Name: Chaos Skeleton
Description: What happens when a zombie has been walking around for so long, that all of his flesh has rotted away? The answer is simple - he turns into a chaos skeleton! As you can see, the corruption in these creatures runs so deep, that even their bones reflects this and have changed their color!
Where can you find it: Underground (pretty much everywhere), or on the Surface (again, pretty much everywhere) during nighttime! Especially common in Rotwood Forests!
Combat Stats:
HP: 25
Armor: 3
Attack Damage: 3 (Melee Damge, Ranged Damage is equal to Vanilla Skeletons!)
Drops: Bones, Arrows

Hellhound:

Name: Hellhound
Description: Oh, look! A cute do... wait a minute, that dog doesn't look very cute at all. In fact, I don't even think it is a dog at all! You have to be very careful around Hellhounds, as they are very strong enemies! They will die easily and quickly, but they make up for that with their ridiculous speed (You won't be able to outrun them by sprinting away on foot) and high attack damage! Be very careful when travelling through the mountains, as that is where you will usually find them!
Where can you find it: Mountains of Lost Hope (Surface and Underground, so be careful), it also is said that some very powerful beings can call upon their Hellhound Minions to aid them in battle...
Combat Stats:
HP: 10
Armor: 1
Attack Damage: 6
Drops: None

Haunted Soul:

Name: Haunted Soul
Description: While most of the unfortunate creatures that decided to wander the Ash Deserts of Lost Souls were reduced to nothing but ash, for some of them there was more than just ash that remained, their evil spirits now haunting the deserts, assuring that any living being that dares enter the deserts suffers the same fate as them, by bombarding them with fireballs.
Where can you find it: Ash Desert of the Lost Souls (Surface and Underground)
Combat Stats:
HP: 24
Armor: 3
Attack Damage: 6 (the real danger are their fireballs though!)
Drops: Phantom Membrane

Tormented Soul:

Name: Tormented Soul
Description: While dark and evil spirits manifest as Haunted Souls in the Ash Deserts, only the darkest of souls manifest themselves as Tormented Souls. While you will usually will run into these more rarely, they are an even bigger threat than regular Haunted Souls and will usually team up with them to bombard you with even more fireballs to make your life miserable!
Where can you find it: Ash Desert of the Lost Souls (Surface and Underground)
Combat Stats:
HP: 26
Armor: 4
Attack Damage: 7 (again, the real danger are their fireballs though!)
Drops: Phantom Membrane, rarely Gold/Iron Nuggets

Bosses (Spoilers ahead obviously):

Ash King:

Name: Ash King
Boss Order (by difficulty): Kill this one first, probably the easiest
Description: Ash Kings are the rulers of the Ash Deserts! Once they reigned freely (and mercilessly) over their kingdoms of ash, eliminating any and all creatures that dared to enter their domain. But one day this all changed, when they were banished from the Realm Of Dark Chaos by an entity stronger than any other being found in the Realm Of Dark Chaos, exiled to be trapped in their very own Castles of Dark Chaos until some poor fool makes the mistake to free them from their prison, allowing them to continue their merciless and brutal reign. With their powerful black magic they can control the weather itself and are able to smite their foes with lightning. They also are devilishly quick and skilled in hand to hand combat!
Where can you find it: Castle of Dark Chaos (Has to be summoned manually, like all the bosses!)
Combat Stats:
HP: 300
Armor: 4.5 + Gold Armor (Again I'm not sure whether .5 is accounted for by Minecraft or not)
Attack Damage: 8 + Iron Sword/Axe
Drops: Orb of Lightning

Dark Necromancer Chaos Overlord:

Name: Dark Necromancer Chaos Overlord
Boss Order (by difficulty): A bit harder than the cAsh King probably, kill this as the second boss!
Description: While Ash Kings reigned over all of the Ash Deserts, the Dark Necromancer Chaos Overlords were the leaders of the (undead) cultists you see scattered throughout the Realm Of Dark Chaos. They are very powerful magicians and have access to very powerful black magic spells. But when they upset the powerful dark entity they seemed to worship they were, just like the Ash Kings, banished and trapped by sealing away in their Temples of Worship, their only hope of escape being some poor soul who is foolish enough to release them from their prison. Their powerful spells make them a force to be reckoned with, as they can summon undead Chaos Zombie cultist followers and have to access to a brutal explosion spell, obliterating anyone who stands to close to the caster and isn't careful!
Where can you find it: Chaos Temple  (Has to be summoned manually, like all the bosses!)
Combat Stats:
HP: 325
Armor: No natural armor + Chaos Armor (Don't underestimate this, this armor is very strong!)
Attack Damage: 9
Drops: Orb of Black Magic

Ancient Chaos Demon:

Name: Ancient Chaos Demon
Boss Order (by difficulty): Currently the hardest boss, fight this one last!
Description: Long before anything else lived in the Realm Of Dark Chaos, these demons were the undisputed kings living there. Being the minions of the dark, evil powerful entity that banished both the Ash Kings and the Dark Necromancer Chaos Overlords, once all of these lived peacefully amongst each other. However when the other entities upset and angered their Object of Worship, it's minions, the Ancient Chaos Demons were sent to resolve and take care of that issue, resulting in a huge war. With joint efforts all of the Demons were trapped deep underground, in living prison cells, sealed with powerful black magic seals. These demons know no mercy, being able to call upon their very own minions, hunt their targets down with potent fireballs, use powerful explosion spells or fight them in hand to hand combat. Break the seal and try to summon and fight this greater evil if you dare!
Where can you find it: Ancient Chaos Demon Prison (Underground)  (Has to be summoned manually, like all the bosses!)
Combat Stats:
HP: 450
Armor: 10
Attack Damage: 10
Drops: Orb of Hellfire

 Blocks:

Tainted Stone

This is probably one of the most common blocks you will encounter in the Realm Of Dark Chaos. It is the corrupted counterpart to the regular stone of the overworld. It really is nothing special!

Corrupted Soil

Probably the other most common block you will find in the Realm Of Dark Chaos, right after Tainted Stone. This block is the corrupted variant of regular overworld dirt! You won't be able to grow crops (like wheat for example) in this though, as the dirt the ground is made up of itself seems to be rotting away slowly...

Putrid Grass

Unlike in the overworld, there is no nice, friendly looking green grass in the Realm Of Dark Chaos. In the corrupted soil regular grass wouldn't last very long. The grass that grows here instead is vile and putrid!

Rotwood Tree Blocks

Rotwood Trees seem to be the only trees that naturally grow in this dimension! While they do seem to "grow" they actually seem to also be rotting away slowly while growing. Very strange... they can be stripped using an axe like regular trees!

Rotwood Planks and products

Rotwood Logs can be turned into planks (like any other tree in this game), which in turn can be turned into doors, fences and fence gates and the likes!

(Tall) Miasmic Grass

Putrid Grass just keeps growing if it isn't cut regularly, just like regular grass. Unlike regular grass however this isn't a particularly healthy process, as this putrid variant of grass seems to be half rotten at all times. When the blades of grass get very long they start visibly spreading a horrible miasmic stench!

Corrupted/Dead Bush

Just like any and all plants in this dimension, even regular harmless bushes seem to be corrupted and vile! These bushes can also be found in the ash deserts, however the bushes there seem to not be corrupted anymore, they died as the ash floor can't even provide them with the small amounts of nutrients they had access to while growing on the corrupted soil.

Corrupted Flowers

Just like the corrupted bushes, the flowers in this dimension are corrupted as well. The Decaying Poppy and Decomposing Dandelion are, well, doing what their name suggests, slowly decaying and decomposing, like every bit of organic matter in this dimension is as it seems.

Ashes of the Deprived

As already outlined in the description of the Ash Desert of Lost Souls Biome, the Ash Blocks these deserts are made up of are all that remains of the travellers that make the unfortunate decision of setting foot into the previously mentioned biome. Be careful so you don't end up the same way!

Compressed Ash-Stone of the Deprived

If you press lots of ash together with big force, it will actually result in a somewhat solid material similiar to regular stone, compressed ash-stone! This block has multiple "variation blocks", like slabs, stairs and walls!

Chaos Stone Bricks

By cutting up tainted stone you can create these neat bricks that are used in a lot of the structures you can find in the Realm Of Dark Chaos! This block has multiple "variation blocks", like slabs, stairs and walls!

Chaos Stone Brick Ornament

Sometimes you will find Chaos Stone Bricks that were decorated with these ornaments... weird, you could swear you heard faint voices while being around some of them that you found in very specific seeming locations...

Living Cave Wall

While mining and exploring caves underground you will sometimes run into this... weird block. It seems to be alive and pulsating... sort of like a heart maybe? What could be hidden inside?

Chaos Ore

One of the new ores! This ore seems to be filled to the brim with chaotic energy, as it seems like it doesn't want to settle on one color. Instead it keeps changing through the colors of the rainbow! Infact it seems to be so unstable that it just straight up explodes when mined sometimes!

Corruption Ore

Another one of the new ores! A weird ore, you can feel dark thoughts arising when being close to this... almost as if it is corrupting them? It seems like this ore can corrupt almost anything it is combined with... might this ore be the reason why this dimension is the way it is?

Corrupted Glass (Pane)

Wow, it looks like the corruption shards have another use besides using them to corrupt other items, they can be combined to create this wacky color changing glass! Neat!

Chaos Metal Block

Even when combining Chaos Ingots to a solid metal block it seems like the metal doesn't lose it's chaotic color changing properties!

Dark Chaos Metal Block

Similiar to the Corruption Ore, you can feel dark thoughts arising around this block that is made up solely of Dark Chaos Metal. Only this time the effect seems to be much stronger.

Tainted Emerald/Coal Ore

Huh, go figure, it seems like some of the ores you already know from the overworld seem to appear in this dimension aswell! How interesting!

Blood

Weird... looks like there is no regular water in the Realm Of Dark Chaos. Instead seas and rivers of blood seem to be all over the place. It behaves similiarly to regular water, but it seems to be a bit more dense and thick, resulting in it not spreading as quickly.

Items:

Suspicious Glowing Eye

Probably the very first item of this mod you will encounter! This suspicious eye is glowing strangely. It is created by combining a regular spider eye with Lapis Lazuli, apparently adding strange magical properties. Looks like cows are weirdly attracted to this... I wonder why

Bucket of Blood

A bucket filled with blood. That's about it, use it like you would use a water bucket!

Rotwood Stick

A truly bizarre looking wooden stick. It almost looks like a regular wooden stick, but it seems to be... rotten? Wait, is it actually though? It seems to only appear rotten, as it is even sturdier than regular wood otherwise!

Evil-Glowing Crystal

Oh, look! A diamond! Actually, wait, that isn't a diamond. It is weirdly... discolored? Also, weirdly, screams seem to be echoing from this? A truly strange item. Maybe you can use this to free a trapped spirit when dropping it in the right spot?

Chaos Ingot

If a single glance at it would be all you get, you would probably say that this is a regular bar of some metal. But as this is the result of smelting that very chaotic piece of Chaos Ore this piece of ingot shines in all of the colors of the rainbow, just like the ore did aswell!

Corruption Shard

Mining the Corruption Ore seems to result in these small shards... of corruption. You could probably smelt them into something more useful... or maybe even combine them into pieces of glass?

Corruption Orb

By smelting the corruption shards you get these weird orbs. Huh, while they seem useless on their own, you feel like combining them with other things might transfer the corruption from the orb onto the other item!

Dark Chaos Ingot

By combining a piece of Chaos Ingot with a Corruption Orb you get this ingot. Was it a good idea to do that though? It feels like the corrupting effects of the Corruption Orb were only strengthened by combining them with the chaotic ingot!

Chaos Tools

By combining Chaos Ingots and Rotwood Sticks a new Set of Tools can be made! It is roughly equivalent to regular iron equipment, however these tools have additional effects!
Axe: On hit: 40% chance to poison opponent with weak poison
Pickaxe: Gain a buff effect when mining some ores (effect depends on the ore that is mined)
Shovel: Gain Haste for 10 seconds when digging Corrupted Soil or Putrid Grass!
Sword: On Hit: 35% chance to poison opponent with strong poison
Hoe: No special effects

Dark Chaos Tools

By combining Dark Chaos Ingots and Rotwood Sticks a new Set of Tools can be made! It is roughly equivalent to regular diamond equipment, however these tools have additional effects!
Axe: On hit: 40% chance to wither the opponent weakly
Pickaxe: Gain a strong buff effect when mining some ores (effect depends on the ore that is mined)
Shovel: Gain Haste I for 10 seconds when digging Ashes of the Deprived and Haste II for 10 seconds when digging Corrupted Soil or Putrid Grass!
Sword: On hit: 40% chance to wither the opponent strongly
Hoe: No special effects

Chaos Armor

You can also use your chaos ingots to craft an armor set! Like the chaos tools, this armor set is roughly equivalent to regular iron armor in terms of stats, however if wearing the full armor set, the wearer receives a nice full set buff!
Full Set Bonus: Strength I and Luck I

Dark Chaos Armor

You can also use your dark chaos ingots to craft an armor set! Like the chaos tools, this armor set is roughly equivalent to regular diamond armor in terms of stats, however if wearing the full armor set, the wearer receives a nice full set buff!
Full Set Bonus: Strength I and Luck I

Potential Spoilers ahead with the following items:

Orb of Lightning

A powerful orb containing the soul of an Ash King! Can be used to create powerful magic artifacts!

Orb of Black Magic

A powerful orb containing the soul of a Dark Necromancer Chaos Overlord! Can be used to create powerful magic artifacts!

Orb of Hellfire

A powerful orb containing the soul of an Ancient Chaos Demon! Can be used to create powerful magic artifacts!

Infused Armor

By combining the orbs dropped by the bosses or an evil-glowing crystal with the appropriate Dark Chaos armor pieces, it is possible to infuse these armor pieces! Their stats don't change and you can still gain the full set bonus as before, even if mixing infused armor with regular Dark Chaos Armor! However if wearing a full armor set consisting of either Dark Chaos or Infused Armor Pieces, every infused armor piece will add another extra effect:
Helmet: Blast Immunity (not resistance, this will negate any and all blast damage you would receive!)
Chestplate: Fire Immunity (again, immunity, not resistance!)
Leggings: Lightning Immunity
Boots: Wither Immunity

Staff of Lightning

A powerful magical staff, that grants it's wielder the power of controlling lightning and smiting foes with it!

Staff of Transmutation

Utilizing the powers of black magic, this staff is able to transmute matter, changing it permanently!

Staff of Dark Transmutation

Utilizing the powers of powerful black magic, this staff is able to significantly transmute matter, changing it permanently! Can be repaired using an Orb of Black Magic!

Staff of Hellfire

A powerful staff, that shoots powerful fireballs by channeling the power of hellfire itself!

Staff of Chaos

The result of combining the 3 lesser magic staves is this strong caster of dark spells, foes of its wielder tremble in fear! Can be repaired with any of the Boss Orbs or any of the lesser magic staves!

Staff of Dark Chaos

The ultimate magic weapon, powerful enough to overthrow entire civilizations! Can be repaired with any of the Boss Orbs, any of the lesser magic staves or with a Chaos Staff!

 Crafting:

Essentials (Ore Smelting and other Special Items!):

Smelting Chaos Ore

Just throw the ore into a regular furnace, put in any fuel (that burns for a sufficient amount of time obviously) and that's it! It smelts into Chaos Ingots!

Smelting Corruption Ore

Just like any other ore, Corruption Ore can also be smelted! This will only be necessary if you mine the block with silk touch however, as it drops Corruption Shards without smelting normally, like diamonds or coal for example!

Smelting Corruption Shards

For most crafting recipes, you'll have to further process Corruption Shards by smelting them into Corruption Orbs!

Evil-Glowing Crystal Crafting

This very special item is crafted by surrounding a diamond with Corruption Orbs!

Suspicious Glowing Eye Crafting

This item is very important, as it is the only way to get entry to the Realm Of Dark Chaos in the first place! Surround a spider eye with Lapis Lazuli to craft it!

Dark Chaos Ingot Crafting

This is a shapeless recipe! Just drop a Chaos Ingot and a Corruption Orb anywhere into the Crafting Grid!

Smelting Tainted Coal/Emerald Ore
Again, you can smelt both Tainted Coal and Emerald Ores to get Coal/Emeralds out of the ore, however this will only be necessary if you mined the block with a tool with the silk touch enchantment!

Utility:

Chaos Metal Block Crafting

Fill the Crafting Grid with Chaos Ingots to craft them into a Chaos Metal Block!

Chaos Metal Block Crafting (Reverse)

You can also craft these blocks back into their original ingot form!

Dark Chaos Metal Block Crafting

Fill the Crafting Grid with Dark Chaos Ingots to craft them into a Dark Chaos Metal Block!

Dark Chaos Metal Block Crafting (Reverse)

You can also craft these blocks back into their original ingot form!

Corrupted Glass Crafting

By combining your corrupted shards instead of smelting them you can also craft them into Corrupted Glass!

Corrupted Glass Pane Crafting

Just like regular glass, you can use your Corrupted Glass to create Glass Panes!

Torch Crafting (Rotwood)

As there are no regular trees in this dimension (thus your supply of regular sticks is limited to the sticks you bring here) you can also create torches by combining coal with Rotwood Sticks!

Corruptions:

Rotwood Sticks

Arguably the most important corruption (other than corrupting Chaos Ingots to get Dark Chaos Ingots). Corruptions are shapeless, so just throw a regular stick and a Corruption Orb into the Crafting Grid to corrupt it into a Rotwood Stick!

Chaos Bricks with Ornaments

'Corruptions are shapeless, so just throw regular Chaos Bricks and a Corruption Orb into the Crafting Grid to corrupt Ornaments onto it!

Flowers

All Corruptions are shapeless, just throw a Poppy or Dandelion and a Corruption Orb into the Crafting Grid to corrupt it into a Decaying Poppy/Decomposing Dandelion!

Corrupted Soil

Corruptions are shapeless, so just throw regular Dirt and a Corruption Orb into the Crafting Grid to corrupt it into Corrupted Soil!

Tainted Stone

Corruptions are shapeless, so just throw regular Stone and a Corruption Orb into the Crafting Grid to corrupt it into Tainted Stone!

Ashstone has multiple variation blocks (so it is great for building/decorating!):

Ashstone Crafting:

You can find Ashstone naturally in the world, but you can also combine 4 Ash Blocks to get 1 Ashstone Block!

Rotwood Crafting
Rotwood Trees work like any other trees in minecraft, in other words you can use Rotwood Logs to create Charcoal for example, and the leaves drop saplings! All of the logs can also be stripped and both the stripped and regular logs can then be turned into planks, which in turn can be used to craft things like doors, stairs or slabs! The crafting recipes for this work like vanilla minecraft crafting recipes, but if you are unsure what those crafting recipes are, I'll still list them here:

Logs can be turned into "full" wood blocks with no "exposed side"!

Any and all logs (normal/stripped and also "full" woodblocks and their stripped counterpart) can be turned into planks!

Please note, that the resulting sticks are Rotwood Sticks, not regular sticks!

(This is a pressure plate)

You will have to use rotwood sticks for this recipe, regular sticks will not work!
