Vanilla redstone is a powerful utility. Unfortunately, it can be a bit unintuitive to use. Introducing:
Triggers
What is this mod for?
This mod looks to make redstone a bit easier to use, especially in the context of making adventure maps. It also provides a few other useful utilities.
Meet the items.
Triggers adds four items for interacting with blocks it adds.
The items.
The Camcorder
The Camcorder is what you'll use to interact with all the blocks. It had three mode: Edit, Copy, Reset. You cycle through the modes by shift-right clicking in the air.
Edit mode is fairly self-explanatory. Right click on a block to open it's GUI and edit it's properties.
Copy mode let's you transfer settings from block to block. Right click on one block to copy the settings, right click on any number of subsequent blocks to paste them. Right click in the air to clear the copied settings.
Reset mode does not reset blocks to factory settings, but rather resets their state. It's used to deactivate activated triggers that are set to go once.
Transient Eye
The Transient Eye is what let's you see blocks. Putting it on your head will make them visible and tangible. It has two modes: Normal and Bypass. On normal, you activate triggers as per usual. On Bypass, you avoid all of their effects. Right click with the Eye to switch modes.
Soul Imprint
(texture pending to change)
The Soul Imprint stores a copy of a mob. See Proximity Triggers below.
Subtle Pickaxe
Semi-ethereal blocks are tricky. Unless you're in creative mode, they are completely indestructible. The blade of the Subtle Pickaxe, however, is so thin it is able to destroy these blocks instantly. However, this makes the blade too flimsy to be able to mine any other blocks. Right click on a semi-ethereal block with this item to destroy it.
Meet the blocks.
Triggers revolves around a special kind of semi-ethereal block. If you wear the Transient Eye on your head, you'll be able to see and interact with them. Otherwise, the blocks become completely intangible and invisible.
Now you see me...
Now you don't!
Wireless Receiver and Emitter
These blocks form the wireless redstone system. They're relation is simple; a redstone signal goes into the emitter and comes out of the receiver.
However, the receiver is far more useful than just that. The receiver, for a lack of a better word, 'receives' wireless signals from all the redstone trigger blocks.
It operates on a channel basis. Thus, set both the receiver and trigger to the same channel, and they will interact with each other. Each channel can have as many receivers and triggers as you want.
Proximity Triggers
Wireless redstone is nice and all, but there are already mods that can do that. The true strength of Triggers are the Proximity Triggers.
The Proximity Trigger has four modes: Player, Mob, Item, and Entity. How these work are fairly straightforward. On Player mode, the block will be triggered by players. On Mob, mobs will trigger. On Item, items will trigger. Entity is a wildcard mode of sorts, and will be triggered by any entity.
In order to be triggered, the entity in question must be physically inside the block.
Player Mode
Mob Mode
Item Mode
The three modes at work.
When on Item and Mob mode, the block can be filtered to only be triggered by specific items. To achieve this, click on the filter button next to the mode button, and then click on the item in your inventory that you want. For filtering mobs, you need to use a Soul Imprint containing the mob you want. It will use the mob's name as a basis.
This block will only be triggered by gunpowder.
Light Source
Lighting can be a pain. You can always use torches or lamps, but those can become repetitive and boring. The Light Source provides and invisible source of light.
Chunk Loader
Chunkloading is always handy, especially if you're setting up your redstone far away from where you're building. It also works well with the Creative Jammer!
Barrier
Invisible blocks. Stop your players from going bad places, make an invisible maze, the possibilities are endless!
Creative Jammer
There's nothing more annoying than a player going into creative mode to cheat. With this block, they lose the ability to! Upon entering creative mode, this block will put the player into adventure mode and give them a goofy message. Alternatively, you can disable the goofy messages in the config to give a boring message for boring people.
In the future, you'll be able to put the player into either survival or adventure mode.
A boring message for boring people.
