It might be worth at least looking into the idea of using data packs to load research, rather than the built-in configs. The mod is already reliant on "loader" type mods like Openloader due to needing a custom resource pack, so shifting to data packs for loading research might be worthwhile.

Primarily, need to think about whether or not this would make loading research easier for modpack makers.
