PREFACE:
Magic and high-mobility melee meets the middle ages in Ancient Warfare Horizons, where playground fun is the top priority. An admittedly challenging wilderness awaits- full of banshees, bandits, and countless factions of unforeseen alignments. So, how will you thrive? As a wanderer, aboard a mystic airship? Or an established emperor, conquering the surrounding lands, and building an empire? This pack is, at its core, cobbled together from my recollection of how Minecraft made me feel when I first started playing- and succeeds at reinvigorating that same giddy feeling of waking up on a Saturday to test something new. Player-made Valkyrium airships loaded with redstone cannons clash midair with rocket-powered grappling hooks and propeller plane dogfights, as an army of your own design runs rampant below. While the monsters that await are quite punishing, a cohesive, hand-tuned suite of interlocking systems lie at your disposal, tested for hours in both singleplayer and SMP environments.
CRAFT
Though there is much to do, there is little time. The wheels of the world begin turning quickly upon spawning in, so it's best to prepare immediately, before the undead catch wind of your arrival. Establish yourself as a force to be reckoned with by using the deeply rewarding systems of Ancient Warfare II and Apotheosis, designing unparalleled torque-powered farms to sustain an entire city. Become a disciple of up to four elements through EBWizardry and Ancient Spellcraft to manipulate the environment, or outright oppose it by devoting to the mage's kryptonite: Devoritum. Create your own wardrobe of weapons and armor with custom modifiers, and take on the caves below, which far exceed the danger of the worlds from which you have come. An introductory quest book will prime you with knowledge of each main system, and provide unique items to help you along you way. However, it deliberately does not reveal much beyond the surface. To discover more about your surroundings, you'll have to poke, prod, and experiment with the basic information given to you.
EXPLORE
Despite the terrors, both terrestrial and subterranean, you must brave the darkness. Vast crypts, ruined castles, and cultist sites are very much a threat, but a threat you must prepare for. Airships and planes facilitate easy travel over beautiful, reimagined terrain, while new wallrunning and jumping enchantments help you navigate on the ground. Heightened enchantment potential for your gear permits confrontation with far more vigorous, hard-hitting enemies than you may be used to. Though arduous, at the end of your journeys, you may find you've acquired some interesting trinkets which allow for physical powers, or have opened new doors into spell-weaving. Also, various traders and wandering wizards are happy to be of service to a seasoned adventurer, and your efforts will be doubly rewarded. But, just as you begin to find comfort in this world, you may find yourself wanting more...
WAGE WAR
Play alone to further develop your city, or recruit others to your cause. Light roleplay is easy enough with the vast fantasy content and build customization. Research siege weaponry to overwhelm large structures, construct training facilities for an army of diverse composition, and begin blueprints for massive structures that your craftsmen will diligently construct. FTBTeams integration with Ancient Warfare provides a platform for allies or foes to make their intentions known, and even a small server can quickly devolve into chaos once the first shot is fired. Chemical warfare with Reliquary + potioncore is rapid and deadly. Spell combat is deep and plays well with magic enhancing or reducing enchantments from other mods. Fully realized dual wielding with Spartan Weapons and a headshot mod makes physical combat a joy, as well. Valkyrien Skies and assorted flight mods fully integrate with the research system of AW2, providing incentive to progress through the pack. Mobility and heavy armaments combine to provide infinite outlets for approaching any dangerous situation.
