BYSS Community Pack 2.0
This modpack is for the Build Your Spaceship and Explore the Universe Discord server.
The BYSS Community Pack is a medium-sized modpack with a focus on technical mods, as the game it is based on is science fiction. It's intended for an upcoming multiplayer server.
The pack features a variety of content mods, but the majority of mods are either performance, tweak, or quality of life mods.
The pack is being developed for use by members of a certain Discord server, so if you want to give feedback, join us at this link.
Tech Mods
Most of the content mods in the pack are tech mods:
- Building Gadgets: FE-powered tools to assist in building, from placing to swapping blocks, to copying and pasting entire buildings at once
- Create 5.0 + addons: Create is probably the best, most vanilla-esque tech mod in existence. Four companion mods are included: Deco, Confectionery, Alloyed, and Crafts & Additions
- Applied Energistics 2 + Lazier AE2: A content-rich matter-energy storage mod that allows you to digitize your inventory. No more massive chest arrays! With Lazier AE2, it becomes even easier to automate.
- Refined Storage: A simpler digital storage mod than AE2, RS is good for those players who don't want to figure out AE2's more powerful but more complicated channels and networks.
- Immersive Engineering: Immersive Engineering is a more old-fashioned tech mod with a heavy focus on multiblock structures and realism. Included is a resource pack for better textures.
- FTB Industrial Contraptions: A continuation of IndustrialCraft 2 for 1.18.2, made by the Feed the Beast team. Experience IC² like never before! Now with dark mode machines!
- Mekanism & addons: A huge tech mod containing everything from simple ore doubling to nuclear fusion reactors, ore pentuplication, and antimatter - Mekanism cannot be summed up in one sentence.
- Beyond Earth: A continuation of GalactiCraft, this mod allows you to visit the Moon, Mars, and more, and create your own space stations! A must-have for this modpack! Previously known as "Space-Bosstools".
- Thermal Series: The classic tech mod returns for 1.18.2. Thermal Foundation, Expansion, etc. are the OG ore processing and power generation mods. Note that Dynamics is not updated, so no pipes yet.
- Pipez: Because Thermal Dynamics isn't ready yet, we have Pipez for item, fluid, and energy transport needs. Of course, you could just use Mekanism instead...
- Laser IO: Direwolf20's take on the Ender IO conduit system from 1.12, for fast and smart logistics!
- MrCrayfish's Gun Mod: Our resident End_Rage created a popular resource and datapack to create-ify MrCrayfish's Guns, so we had to include that.
- Simple Planes: Between Create 5.0's trains and these planes, you should have no trouble crossing your world! Or, you can read below for the non-technical alternative...
- Little Logistics: Adorable tiny boats and trains for automating your base. Did you think pipes were too boring? Me, too.
Magic Mods
There are more magic mods this time around, since fewer tech mods are currently updated. And there's some really nice stuff this time... - Malum: Become a warlock and harness the power of souls! Launch boomerang scythes, enact magic rituals, and create fantastic equipment for yourself.
- Enigmatic Legacy: An RPG-style accessory magic mod, EL adds a ton of unique relics and curios to power yourself up! And...a challenge, for the worthy.
- Blood Magic: Want to be a necromancer? Well, you can't really...but you can become a blood mage, and harness the power of lifeforce to bend the world to your will!
- Soul Shards: Originally, the pack had Spirit, but it crashes if you look up its recipes. So we replaced it with Soul Shards. Create your own mob spawners!
- Dragon Mounts Legacy: Did you think planes were lame? How about a fire-breathing, flying terror-lizard? Find egg shrines or hatch the Ender Dragon egg to find out!
- DruidCraft & Roots Classic: Become a druid! Wield nature spells, wear wooden armor, and commune with nature with Roots. DruidCraft mostly just adds more flavor to this lifestyle.
- Reliquary Reincarnations: Wield powerful magic artifacts, or a gun. Reliquary is a classic magic content mod that adds many relics and tools to enhance your gameplay.
- Hex Casting: Magic for programmers! And no, not Psi. Actual magic, with runes and wands, not guns. Also features really cool animated pigment items.
- Forbidden & Arcanus: A magical decoration mod with some actual magic. Still WIP, but has some useful features. Will one day be similar to Thaumcraft I imagine.
Server Mods
Since this modpack is meant for a multiplayer server, it's only fair that we have a few mods designed to build your server community around.
- Simple Shops: Create market stalls and sell your items! Encourages a server economy. Great with Thermal's coins.
- Hats and Cosmetics: Purplik kept pestering me, so you get their hats mod. It has the Thaumaturge goggles!
- Lootr: No more fighting over loot chests! With Lootr, everyone gets a share.
- NetherPortalFix: Finally, you won't come out of your neighbor's portal anymore. Unless you went through it in the first place.
- 3D Skin Layers: It's always been a bit odd to me that skins have floating layers. Well, apparently I wasn't alone in thinking that!
- Not Enough Animations: Now you will physically move things between hands, eat and drink potions, carry maps, wear swords on your hip, and more!
- Simple Sitting: Sit down anywhere. Sure, we have mods that add seats, but what if you want to sit on your friend's table?
- Wavey Capes: As a cape-haver, the ugliness of Minecraft's capes have always bugged me. This mod gives them the flappy appearance they should have had all along.
- Chat Heads & Clickable Advancements: Show player heads in chat! And now, when you achieve something, anyone can click on it to see what you did.
- Cosmetic Armor Reworked: Now you can wear your ultra-OP armor without looking ridiculous. Or make yourself look ridiculous on purpose!
- Farsight: A client mod for servers that lets you ignore whatever the server's configured render distance is in favor of your own.
- FTB Chunks, Teams, Essentials, & Ranks: Server utility mods for chunk claiming, team creation, server commands, and server ranks.
- Goat Horns & Copper Horns: The 1.19 goat horns from Bedrock, now in 1.18.2 Java. Play funny music with your friends!
- Chalk: Leave directions for yourself, or for your friends. Comes in every color and glowing versions.
Content/Exploration Mods
There are many mods which add content that don't fit into the two categories above...
- 'Dustrial Decor: Industrial-themed building blocks that complement Immersive Engineering and Create quite well.
- Akashic Tome & Morph-o-Tool: The book to contain all of your books, and the wrench to contain all of your other wrenches from other mods.
- Ambient Additions, Goodall, Creatures & Beasts, and Ecologics: We got rid of Alex's Mobs this time around. Instead, here's several smaller mods that add adorable critters.
- Artifacts: Rare loot treasures inspired by other games, which can be worn as Curios. Provides various buffs, from scaring away creepers with kitty shoes to double-jumping with a cloud in a bottle.
- Sophisticated Backpacks: Backpacks for all your storage needs. Features many upgrades.
- Bedspreads: Put banner patterns on your beds! Why isn't this in vanilla?
- Twigs, Immersive Weathering, This Rocks: Water weathers stone! Leaves leave piles! Sticks stick around! And rocks, and seashells, and more! Make your world come alive.
- Iron Chests Restocked: Like Iron Chests, but cooler, in my opinion.
- Storage Drawers: Like chests, but better, in my opinion.
- Farmer's Delight, Cooking For Blockheads, Croptopia: I love farming mods. I had to include some of them, especially my favorite - Farmer's Delight, and a BUNCH of its addons!
- Chipped, Adorn, Architect's Palette, Framed Blocks: More decoration, more furniture, more blocks, and the ability to turn any texture into mostly any block shape. Unlimited building potential!
- Extended Lights: Even more lighting options, mostly focused on bulbs and such.
- Enlightened End & Nourished Nether: End and Nether overhauls to complement the ones added by ByG.
- Extreme Sound Muffler: Ever get tired of hearing your 32 cows mooing constantly? Shut them up with a simple gui.
- Effortless Building & Precise Block Placement: Between these two mods and Building Gadgets, making large structures should be a breeze. PBP lets you place blocks as fast as you can drag your mouse.
- FerriteCore: A wonderful performance mod which slashes the amount of RAM Minecraft consumes in half. The pack should be able to run on 2-4GB!
- GraveStone: Don't lose your items ever again! Well, you will lose them, but only until you go dig up your grave.
- Oh, The Biomes You'll Go & Biome Overhaul: A wonderful biome mod which adds a hundred new biomes to the Overworld, Nether, and End. My favorite biome mod. And a new challenger, which adds structures too!
- Plushie Mod: Adorable mob plushies for your base.
- Wormhole Portals: Create custom portals around your world!
- Quark: A mod which adds a variety of content, which can't be summed up in any Neat manner (which is a mod by Vazkii). Join their discord!
- Supplementaries: A vanilla+ mod that adds such things as road signs, sound blocks, rope, bombs, hanging wall lanterns, and much more.
- Tinker's Construct: The third most popular Minecraft mod of all time, and for good reason. Join their Discord!
- Xaero's Minimap/World Map: Your mapping needs, fulfilled.
- YUNG's Mods: Better strongholds, mineshafts, desert pyramids, witch huts, and more structures by YOUNGNICKYUNG.
