So I mainly made this mod pack for friends so we can nuke each other and do some fun cold war themed role play but if you would like to experience it too I have a rules document below on how we play.
At it's core the mod is very much "Vanilla but with Nukes"
The mod is mostly centered around ICBM Classic and is supported by Actually Additions. There are also some world generation mods installed to spice things up. Most of actually additions is removed and you will notice that it is cleaned up in JEI.
RULES DOC IS AS FOLLOWS
Introduction
A few months ago I was playing on Issac’s (King Bagdamagness) modded minecraft server and discovered the ability to craft an ICBM. Naturally, I quickly developed my private ICBM program to impose my will on the world around me and obliterate the extremely poorly balanced dragons. Then it occurred to me this would be a fantastic opportunity to get some great role play in, destroy friendships, and decide once and for all which economic system is good and which one is a virus created by satan. I really want to see how the situation will play out especially when each party is given a lot of freedom in how their respective side is able to operate.
The following is a proposed set of rules and planning for a cold war themed minecraft server with an emphasis on roleplay (and ICBM’s) I will set up this server and changes to the bomber clan discord over the summer and announce when it will begin. I predict the game will last about 1-2 weeks and we can run it back if we are having fun.
Your Goal
Prove that your economic system is the best through your prowess in wealth, culture or science. Make sure to not be nuked.
Rules
- DBAD (don’t be a dick). I wouldn't consider this server a success if you didn’t feel a little bit of true hatred towards your enemies but remember that at the end of the day you're playing minecraft and people are here to have fun. At its core, this is an RP server and not a place for cheating or exploits if you find them.
- You must employ your assigned economic system
- If your team or base is destroyed or conquered beyond reasonable doubt you lose. Only structures in the overworld are considered to be part of your base.
- Factions with less than 5 members are not recognised as teams.
- You may only declare yourself being on one team.
- If you are only the team that has not lost for 4 hours you win.
- You may only take malicious actions against a faction or team if they have at least 2 members online and active.
- The punishment for failing to comply with any of these rules is up to the discretion of the entire group keep rule 1 in mind.
Teams
When the game starts you are automatically part of the Capitalist or Comunist team assigned to you. Rule 2 applies even if you change your team or faction. Assigned team swaps are allowed during the first 24 hours but ‘-g’ players may not swap with non ‘-g’ players and vice versa.
Roles
- Citizen: Standard player bring glory to your economic system and make your mark on the world
- Leader: Comunist and Capitalist leaders are automatically assigned. They can not be spies and will always be the ones who are given the first warheads and associated equipment.
- Spy: Appear to be the opposite team that the one they are considered a part of. Rule 2 does not apply to spies. Rule 7 always applies. Spys can not be leaders. Spies are required to notify their true team’s leader of their identity
Setup
- In the ’cold-war-participants’ channel, participants will state their MC username as well as a ‘-g’ after their name if they see themselves participating frequently
- Sorting Teams: Once all participants are confirmed, a discord bot will DM you your team and role there will be an equal number of ‘g’ and non g participants on each team.
- The server will then open. The map will be random and have a world border of 1000 blocks (±1000 blocks on the x and y). The spawn will be protected and considered a neutral zone. Pvp will not be active for the next 24 hours.
- At the end of 24 hours pvp will be enabled and the leader of each team will receive 3 ICBM warheads, 4 counter ICBM missiles, a launch pad, and appropriate items to power the launch pad.
Mods
Included mods are: ICBM classic, Just Enough Items (will help you find crafting recipes), Biomes of Plenty (spice up the word). There may also be slight adjustments to certain crafting recipes for balancing reasons. Measures may also be taken to get rid of fish farms, villager farms and other elements that present balancing or progression issues. None of these mods are very complex and you should be able to pick them up quickly. I will create a ‘Mod Pack’ which includes all of the mods listed above which I will probably host on curse forge so you can download and play it with like 2 clicks. If you know nothing about modding or even minecraft you should be able to play.
Notes and Considerations to Make
- Rules are purposefully minimalistic to give player maximum freedom
- Restrictions are put on economic systems not governmental
- You can change the leader of your country through an election or coup d'etat but the assigned leader is the only one guaranteed not to be a spy
- The issue of territory and borders are not defined in the rules but that doesn’t mean that they can’t exist
