SSAO looks kind of good on screenshots and with f1 but its not very good on practice in survival.
Would be much better if you will add some non-screen space ambient occlusion technique so there wont be an occlusion near hands or behind the fences(where its not supposted to be.

SSAO is being planned to be rewritten in later versions (hopefully before 1.4.0)

You need to elaborate more on what "non-screenspace AO" is.
