OBS: THIS IS A RESOURCE PACK FOR THE MOD DRAGON MOUNTS LEGACY (1.19.2)! therefore get that for it to work
having a big Craving For Birds and also enjoying this mod i ended up making a texture pack which replaces the textures of each dragon breed with a bird-inspired design!
some of these were picked just based on aesthetics which i found vaguely fitting, or based on certain behaviours/traits of the bird species in question.
i could also see this texture pack appealing to you if you prefer more "naturalistic" designs/textures.
listed below are what species the breeds have been changed to and why:
end dragon ---> red throated caracara (aesthetic)
fire dragon ---> brown falcon (falco berigora) (one of the birds of prey species observed to start wildfires to hunt)
water dragon ---> gray heron (water dwelling bird)
forest dragon ---> great spotted woodpecker (kind of obvious forest bird)
ice dragon ---> eurasian eagle owl w/ blue eyes (owl species acclimated to colder climates. snowy owl is too obvious)
ghost dragon ---> barn owl (spooky looking nocturnal owl)
aether dragon ---> king vulture (aesthetic)
nether dragon ---> black-breasted buzzard (aesthetic)
i want to note that if you just use the texture pack as it is, the ghost dragon will have skinny legs with the shoulder top kinda missing - i didn't know how to fix this with a texture pack but its pretty easy to solve just by going into the .json file of the mod. i have instructions on how to do that in the readme - but you can also just not do it, it doesn't look too bad as it is (as barn owls do have skinny legs haha)
