I was missing the old ambience of Minecraft so I created this pack.

Three Nostalgia versions:
Default: pre-Beta 1.8 brings back the old sounds. No sounds were muted.
Classic: pre-Beta 1.8 brings back the old sounds and removes many sounds to recreate the pre-Beta 1.8 atmosphere (e.g. the underwater and the Nether are quiet again).
Classic: pre-1.4.2 same as above but recreates the atmosphere between 1.0.0 and 1.3.2 instead.

Three Continuity versions:
Default: pre-1.16 brings back the sounds of Minecraft 1.14. No sounds were muted.
Classic: pre-1.16 brings back the old sounds and removes a few sounds to recreate the 1.14 atmosphere (e.g. the Nether is quiet again).
Classic: pre-1.13 same as above but recreates the 1.12 atmosphere instead (the underwater is quiet again).

To preserve the consistency of the game experience, some new sounds are changed to old style (e.g. Deepslate uses old stone sounds for consistency with stone).

FAQ:

Should I choose the "Default" pack or the "Classic" pack?
Use the "Default" pack if you don’t want any sound to be turned off.
Example with "Default: pre-Beta 1.8" pack: Bow uses old sound (pre-1.0.0), Furnace makes sound (since 1.9), Blast Furnace makes sound (since its inception in 1.14).
Use the "Classic" pack if you want to feel the old atmosphere of Minecraft.
The same example but with "Classic: pre-Beta 1.8" pack: Bow uses old sound (pre-1.0.0), Furnace is silent (pre-1.9), Blast Furnace is silent for consistency (it would be weird to have a silent furnace while the blast furnace has a crackle sound).

How did you make this pack?
I watched historical footage of Minecraft to be more accurate because the official launcher doesn't provide all the old sounds. This lightweight pack is coded in JavaScript. It also includes the old splash texts and a tutorial if you want to change the sounds.

Which texture pack do you recommend for a classic experience?
You can combine my pack with the Programmer Art pack or another retro texture pack.
For a complete retro experience, I also recommend my other pack: Old Lighting & Old Water.

What if I want a different sound for chests?
I included alternate versions inside the packs.
To get modern sounds for chest with the "Default: pre-Beta 1.8" version: just delete sounds.json, and rename modernchest.json as sounds.json to use it.
To get Beta 1.8 sounds for chest with the "Classic: pre-Beta 1.8" version: just delete sounds.json, and rename betachest.json as sounds.json to use it
