Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral in Florence Italy (and Assassin's Creed 2). I built it in 1:2 scale on a multiplayer server in October 2010, and ever since I have wanted to do it in 1:1 scale.
New for 1.8: the world comes with a bundled resource pack which is applied automatically when you load the world. The textures are an edited version of Steelfeathers' pack and is and distributed with permission from Steelfeathers. Steelfeathers gets all the credit for the texture pack, and anything that looks bad is probably something I edited.
To play,
- put the Duomo folder inside the %appdata%.minecraftsaves folder
- If you are using Optifine, Minecraft's auto switching to a resource pack bundled with a world is slightly buggy: the stained glass will not take on the appearance of the custom resource pack. You'll need to copy the resource pack into your resource pack folder and switch to it manually for everything to look right.
TODO: modern accurate interior is done, maybe a second version more geared towards Assassin's Creed-like parkour puzzling, and with details appropriate to that era / game (the old choir, chandeliers, old facade maybe). Would love to see it if anyone else makes some better parkour goodness out of this.
