This project is part of the PhD research "Visualizing and Valuing Landscape through Geogame", defended on Dec 6th 2019 at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The map consists in a 1:5 representation of Ouro Preto landscape, a 307 years old small sity in Brazil countryside. Using GIS and ETL techniques, we've used real spatial data to construct the landscape, in order to present the diversity of values related to the cultural landscape of the city, that was a state capital dua its gold mining activity, that last for 150 years, modifying the landscape and bringing urban development and sustainability nowadays. For that, we developed a game design based on an adventure map with custom NPCs that helps the player to explore the landscape, completing quests and getting rewards.

GeoMinasCraft was created to evaluate the power of Minecraft to communicate complex contents, such as abstract values related to culture and history, as well as topics concerning natural sciences, such as geology. The game was play tested by almost 100 people, and the analysis of the evaluations and assessments will be publish soon.

We'll keep developing and updating the map and its narrative. For now, the game dialogues are all in Portuguese, but it'll be translated to English as soon as possible.
