Automation!
Use Producers and Breakers - machines added through a datapack - to make ores and wood, and then harvest them. Each Producer needs fuel to work, and Breakers need materials to keep themselves running. No free lunches!
Biomes, Bunnies, and Bears, oh my!
Each island has something useful on it. Many animals can be found on them, as well as raw materials and hidden treasures. And each island has a biome assigned to it, so weather and natural spawning work well, too!
