This mod adds "Lucky"-type variants called "Astral" and "Umbral" variants. These variants replace the "Zen Mind" (+10% Normal Attack) and "Veil of Darkness" (+10% Dark Attack) traits and if a pal spawns with one of those traits they will instead spawn with their respective Astral or Umbral modifiers.

A Celestial Variant has an alternate material set and textures, and has a +20% size modifier.

  • Umbral Pals are dark, dark purple with red eyes and black sclera, their effects are typically a smoky or burning purple if they have them.
  • Astral Pals are ivory white with golden accents, their eyes are golden with black sclera, and their effects are typically a golden flame or white smoke.

Gameplay Explanation

The mod checks a pal to see if it has the Veil of Darkness or Zen Mind trait in its first slot to decide if it will shift that pal to its variant. There are some rules at play with how it functions in regards to pals that have guaranteed traits, bosses, etc. (See the One of a Kind page for more information.)

  • If a pal is a Boss or Lucky those will take priority over Celestial Variants and cannot be Celestial Variants by default
  • This means Boss pals must be bred to become Celestial Variants and that the Veil of Darkness or Zen Mind traits must land in the first slot!
  • This does mean if you run into a pal in the wild with two traits and the second is a Celestial Variants trait it will not be a variant!
  • Some pals have guaranteed traits in the first slot in the wild, these traits are ignored and it will instead check the second trait in these cases!
  • Not every pal has variants at the moment, we're working through them now. Please read the download notes on which ones have variants in which version!

Installation

  • Drop the .pak found in the .zip into your paks folder or install via Curseforge or Vortex.
  • Requires the One of a Kind framework to work!
  • Should work in multiplayer from our testing!
  • Will work with existing saves, beware as we are in testing you should backup any saved games you intend to play this on!
  • This mod is retroactive, which means pals that already have the proper traits in the first slot will upgrade to their variants!

Known Bugs

  • Sometimes scale modifiers don't stick on party members (this is an OK issue.)
  • There is a delay after spawning the pal before it transforms (this is an OK issue.)
  • Party menu shows them as normal (this is an OK issue.)
  • Icons don't change for the variants (this is something I'm looking into.)
