Age of Heroes
This is a map I created back in 2013 but I figured I would post some details about the map on this website, as it became slightly popular on the EU server.

The above links will launch the game and send you directly to the map.
Planning
The idea behind the map was to create something that resembled a classic Multiplay Online Battle Arena (MOBA) like League of Legend or DotA. I wanted to twist the original concept slightly to a point where it would become my own idea.
Concept
Players can choose between two factions, the Terrans and the Protoss. Players are able to choose between both sides in-game and once the teams have been balanced the players can choose between five heroes with five unique abilities each. Since the two factions are two different races, they can choose between a set of heroes that the other team can't and vice versa.
There is only a single lane in the map, which the players don't use too often. Minions are primarily pushing the lane, while the players farm creeps in the jungle and slay other enemy heroes.
Now, here is the big twist. The spawn waves of minions aren't constant. The players need to farm minerals which they must spend to either add minions to the middle lane or convert into vespene gas, which they can spend on upgrades for their hero.
To win the game the opposing team's base must be destroyed.
Miscellaneous Mechanics
A.I.
A.I. support was implemented because of StarCraft II's small arcade community. Even though the A.I. isn't perfect and has many flaws the map became much more popular because of it.
Camps
Besides having a primary base, each side also has a "camp", which is located very close to their primary base. It doesn't really do anything, but destroying it rewards a good amount of minerals and vespene gas, so the players need to keep an eye on it. If it gets destroyed then the other team's own camp becomes invulnerable and cannot be destroyed.
The Brutalisk
A Brutalisk is located in the top right corner of the map, surrounded by a number of other zerg creeps. Killing it also rewards a good amount of minerals and vespene gas. It will respawn after 10 minutes.
Alternate Game Mode
An alternate "Conquest" game mode was added to the game, where the objective was to capture as many bases as possible and hold them. Each base would grant additional points to a counter. The team that reaches the point cap first wins the game. Each team were also able to choose between all heroes. This game mode never really became popular due to its poor level design and simplistic, monotonous feel.
Thanks to
I met CrazyHisp through my map and he helped me correct some of the issues it had in the early versions. Special thanks to his efforts!
Hjorthenify is an irl friend who knows alot about programming. He helped me with some of the basics and also how to improve performance by reducing unnecessary code. He doesn't really play StarCraft II, but he has helped me a lot anyway. Thank you, my friend :)
