I wanted to create a custom RPG with an epic feel. I don't think I've succeeded. The goal was to create a number of exciting combat scenarios where the players used highly advanced custom abilities to fight alongside of AI-controlled warriors. I thought a MOBA-feel would be interesting, and drew on some inspiration from the WotLK WoW. The idea was to have the players fight alongside streams of units controlled by the Protoss computer. I wanted to preserve the traditional RPG feel of SCBW with shops and expand on traditional shop values by creating custom items that might suit one hero or another. I am pretty happy with the shop system in this map; it is a nice collection of global arrays inspired by SCBW RPGs. The map is designed to support up to three unique heroes with vastly different abilities. Each of the heroes is designed to complement the others by performing specific combat roles. Each hero is fairly diversified, although specific capacities, for instance healing, is often relegated to just one hero. I wanted to explore a number of cinematic possibilities and to create an especially epic feel for some battles. Unfortunately I don't think I succeeded. Arguably there is too much emphasis on AI-controlled ally units within the design mainframe of this RPG. In going for a heavily automated environment to increase the scope of the project, I'm afraid I overstepped the bounds of good sense, and that the players feel more like glorified observers than true characters. I can't comment on this project more at this time, but I hope you enjoy trying it out.
