The idea with this map is to have a Hero unit start at its Base in one corner of the map. As the Hero explores the map and kills enemies, it gains XP and levels up. Each level provides more Health and stronger attacks. Also, by exploring the map, the Hero can find random items to bring back to his Base for research and upgrades (similiar to the single player campain is layed out but a little more simplistic). The upgrades I'm considering are additional weapons and some special abilites. I'm also still debating whether to automatically incr Armor through leveling or include it in the found item system.
A large aspect I'm trying to accomplish in the map is that the Hero progressively explores the map. So, initially, he just goes out a little and then returns to the BASE for upgrades and such. Then ventures out further and tackles progressively more challenging obsticles then returns to the Base.
For now, the Hero Unit is a Dark Templar and the enemies will be Zerg (with Terran possibly in the future).
