NPC Dine Out / Retail / Vet Careers

NPC Dine Out / Retail / Vet Careers

4.3k Downloads

Requires the XML Injector.

These careers require LittleMsSam's to work.  Why?  Because she made more useful mods for these specific careers that I felt just needed a few tweaks!  Namely:
Retail Overhaul - Hire certain EmployeesHire certain Vet Employees, and Hire certain Sims (incl. Family Members) at Restaurants.

This mod allows you to use these careers as rabbit holes after your Sim has been employed by the Restaurant / Vet / Retail owner!  Not before!  It also eliminates all filters, including those for skills and locations, so you can have a VERY incompetent chef or hire the Grim Reaper if you want.

The Restaurant package also makes LittleMsSam's mod and Carl's Download Dine Out Reloaded compatible!  You can do funny things like reprimand yourself when playing as a chef, but I see this more as a perk than a drawback.

If you try to join these careers without being properly hired you'll just be bumped out of them on reload!  So, yeah.  Take the process as outlines in LMS's guide.  Click on the register or vet or host station and assign the trait to the Sim you wish to hire.  Then have the owner hire that Sim.

For the record, the only thing unique of LittleMsSam this mod contains are filters which I overrode to be mostly empty.  It has nothing unique of Carl's - the XML in question relates to the venue tuning - adding "game breaking" to allow for players to do interactions Carl wants them to do.  That's the ONLY place where LMS and he have conflicting XML!

How to install

This is an override mod.  Just putting them all in the same folder WILL NOT WORK.

1) Open Resource.cfg.  Paste the following into it:
Priority 500
PackedFile *.package
PackedFile */*.package
PackedFile */*/*.package
PackedFile */*/*/*.package
PackedFile */*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile */*/*/*/*/*.package

Priority 1000
PackedFile _Overrides/*.package
PackedFile _Overrides/*/*.package
PackedFile _Overrides/*/*/*.package
PackedFile _Overrides/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile _Overrides/*/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile _Overrides/*/*/*/*/*/*.package

2) create a folder called "_Overrides".  Place my mod into that one.

3) Place LittleMsSam's mods in any other folder.  Ditto Carl's if you wish.

This setup will make one competing mod override another.  Since my mod has XML that allows both to function it will let both co-operate!

By the way, as long as two mods are similar this setup will work on most competing mods.  So if two mods seem very similar but one has a few objects that you like or interactions chances are you can resolve most problems this way.  There may still be glitches, but it's a handy setup.

Made with LittleMsSam's permission!
