Spam musubi is a very popular snack or lunch starter in Hawaii. Its tradition comes from Japanese cuisine in which onigiri or omusubi is its inspiring food. A slice of Spam is placed on a piece of rice and a sheet of nori seaweed (dried seaweed) and the Spam-rice combination is rolled, holding it together. Although musubi is very similar to onigiri sushi, its rice is not seasoned with vinegar.
