Leader of the Pack

Description from the "Official" Site

Corlys was a fabled Lord of the Tides, Master of Driftmark, and head of House Velaryon. In his younger years he made nine great voyages on Sea Snake, a ship he designed and built himself. Corlys was the husband of Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, the Queen Who Never Was. During the Dance of the Dragons, he became Hand to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen

By the of age 37, Corlys was hailed as the greatest seafarer the Seven Kingdoms had ever known. Corlys was said to be as brilliant as he was restless, and as adventurous as he was ambitious. Though he accomplished much and more in life, he was seldom satisfied. Corlys was known to be intractable, even in old age. He was remembered as wise in peace and valiant in war. He was a proud man.

When news of Rhaenys's death reached Dragonstone, Corlys blamed Rhaenyra for Rhaenys's death, as she had forbidden her sons from accompanying Rhaenys. Corlys was brought back into the fold when Prince Jacaerys Velaryon named him Hand of the Queen. Together, they planned an assault on King's Landing. For his plan, Jacaerys offered lands, riches and knighthood to anyone who could mount one of the riderless dragons. The fifteen-year-old Addam of Hull managed to claim Seasmoke, formerly ridden by Corlys's late son Laenor. Addam's mother Marilda proclaimed that Addam and his younger brother Alyn had both been fathered by Laenor, and, apparently accepting this fact, Corlys petitioned Rhaenyra to legitimize them both, naming Addam his new heir. Marilda's claim regarding the parentage of her sons was considered remarkable by many, due to the rumors concerning Laenor's sexuality. The court fool Mushroom, however, suggests in his Testimony that Addam and Alyn had both been fathered by Corlys himself, and that he had kept them far from court whilst his wife was still alive, but took the opportunity, after her death, to acknowledge them after a fashion.

Corlys served as one of the regents for Aegon III Targaryen during from 131 AC until his death in 132 AC. Corlys was regarded as the most powerful of the regents. When he died of old age on the sixth day of the third moon of 132 AC, at the age of seventy-nine, his body was placed beneath the Iron Throne for a week. Marilda of Hull and her son, Alyn Velaryon, sailed Corlys's remains to Driftmark on Mermaid's Kiss. Corlys was then buried at sea east of Dragonstone on his ancient Sea Snake. When the ship sank, the Cannibal allegedly flew overheard in salute.

Description from the "Official" Site

Laena was born in late 92 AC to Lord Corlys Velaryon and Princess Rhaenys Targaryen.

The unborn Laena, also referred to as "the boy in the belly", was subject of much debate on the succession until her birth. In 101 AC, Laena's claim to the Iron Throne was put forward once more during the Great Council, but she was passed over, together with her mother, on account of her sex.

Before the age of twelve, Laena had become a dragonrider by claiming the largest Targaryen dragon left alive, Vhagar. Following the death of Queen Aemma Arryn in late 105 AC, Grand Maester Runciter urged King Viserys I Targaryen to remarry, and suggested the just-turned-twelve and newly flowered Laena as a bride, so that Viserys could heal the rift between House Targaryen and House Velaryon. However, Viserys chose another noblewoman, and though this angered Laena's father, Laena herself was untroubled. According to a letter the maester of High Tide wrote to the Citadel, Laena was interested more in flying than boys. When King Viserys I married Alicent Hightower in 106 AC, House Velaryon was noticeably absent from the wedding.

At the age of twelve, Laena was betrothed to a son of the Sealord of Braavos. When the Sealord died, Laena's betrothed squandered his father's money and power and came to Driftmark. There, for nearly ten years, Laena's father repeatedly found ways to postpone their wedding, unwilling to let it go through, but unable to gracefully break the betrothal. When Prince Daemon Targaryen arrived on Driftmark in 115 AC, the singers claim he fell in love with Laena, although others believe he saw her as a means to further his ambition. He insulted Laena's betrothed until the boy challenged him to a duel, in which he was killed by Daemon with Dark Sister. Laena wed Daemon a fortnight later.

Aware that the king and court would not be pleased with their marriage, Laena and Daemon flew on their dragons to Pentos, where they were hosted by the Prince of the city. From Pentos, Daemon and Laena traveled to many Essosi city states. They eventually returned to Pentos, where Laena discovered she was pregnant. Laena and Daemon remained in Pentos for the remainder of her pregnancy. In 116 AC, in Pentos, Laena gave birth to their twin daughters, Rhaena and Baela. When the children were half a year old, Laena sailed with them to Driftmark, while Daemon flew their dragons home.

Laena became good friends with her good-sister, Rhaenyra Targaryen: it is said the princess was "fond and more than fond" of her uncle's wife. Laena and Daemon would often visit Rhaenyra on Dragonstone, and Rhaenyra would often visit them on Driftmark. In 118 AC, Laena's two-year-old twins were betrothed to Rhaenyra's two eldest sons, with the blessing of King Viserys I.

In 119 AC, Laena became pregnant again. During the first few days of 120 AC, Laena went into labor. Following a day and night of labor, she gave birth to a twisted and malformed son, who died within an hour of birth. With all her strength gone from her labor and weakened further from grief over her lost child, childbed fever set in. Neither Driftmark's maester nor Maester Gerardys from Dragonstone could heal her. After three days of sickness, Laena died. It is said that she attempted to reach Vhagar to fly one more time before she died, but collapsed on the tower steps, where she died. Daemon carried her back to bed, where he sat vigil over Laena's body together with Rhaenyra.

Description from the "Official" Site

He was born in 94 AC to Lord Corlys Velaryon and Princess Rhaenys Targaryen after his older sister Laena. Laenor was known to have a lack of interest in women, instead preferring to surround himself with handsome young men of his own age. Ser Criston Cole, an enemy to Laenor's wife Rhaenyra, proclaimed that boys had not been safe around Laenor. When King Viserys I Targaryen and his small council sought a husband for Viserys's heir, Rhaenyra Targaryen, they eventually agreed on Laenor, as such a marriage would unite House Targaryen and House Velaryon once again. The only objection raised was Laenor's lack of interest in women. Instead, it was reported he preferred the company of handsome squires his own age, had never known a woman intimately, and had not fathered any bastards. After Grand Maester Mellos dismissed this concern, the match was agreed upon. According to Archmaester Gyldayn, Princess Rhaenyra herself objected to the match as well, but conceded after King Viserys I threatened to replace her as his heir with her half-brother Aegon.

Laenor and Rhaenyra were married in 114 AC; the groom was twenty, the bride seventeen, and it was agreed by all that they made a handsome couple. A fortnight before the wedding, Laenor was knighted. During the tourney held to celebrate the wedding, Rhaenyra gave her favor to her new champion, Ser Harwin Strong, and Laenor laughed and gave his own favor to his favorite, Ser Joffrey Lonmouth. Joffrey was mortally wounded by Ser Criston Cole during the joust. Joffrey died six days later, and according to Mushroom, Laenor spent all that time by Joffrey's bedside, and wept bitterly when Joffrey finally died. Afterwards, Laenor returned to Driftmark, causing many to wonder whether the marriage had been consummated, as Rhaenyra remained at court. At High Tide, Laenor quickly found a new favorite, Ser Qarl Correy. In 120 AC, Laenor was slain by his friend, Ser Qarl Correy, while attending a fair at Spicetown.

Laenor's dragon, Seasmoke, was his pride and passion. Laenor had an aquiline nose, silver-white hair, and purple eyes. According to the fool Mushroom, Laenor's sister Laena was "almost as pretty as her brother".

Description from the "Official" Site

Vaemond was a knight from and a nephew of Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Snake & the Lord of the Tides.

When Corlys Velaryon was struck by a sudden fever and fell gravely ill, a discussion began about the succession to Driftmark. Both of Corlys' children, Laena and Laenor, had died six years before. Laena's two daughters and Laenor's three sons still lived, but regardless, Lord Corlys' eldest nephew Vaemond insisted he should be Corlys' chosen successor, claiming that Laenor's three sons were not fathered by Laenor at all, and accusing their mother Rhaenyra Targaryen of committing adultery (this would also have simply ignored the fact that Laena's daughters still stood ahead of him in the line of succession). In response, Rhaenyra dispatched her new husband, Prince Daemon, to seize Ser Vaemond. She had his head removed, and fed his carcass to her dragon, Syrax. His five younger cousins had their tongues removed afterwards by King Viserys I Targaryen for repeating the rumors about Rhaenyra's three sons by Laenor.

Description from the "Official" Site

In 126 AC, after the death of his father at the hands of Prince Daemon Targaryen, Daeron sailed to King's Landing with his mother, his brother Daemion, and his father's five cousins to seek justice from King Viserys I Targaryen and put forward their claims on Driftmark.

In 132 AC, following the death of Lord Corlys, Daeron and Daemion contested the claim of their illegitimate cousin Alyn Velaryon as Lord of the Tides and put forth their own claims before the council of regents in King's Landing. When the Hand of the King, Ser Tyland Lannister, and the regents ruled against them, they chose to accept the decision and be reconciled with Lord Alyn, who rewarded them with lands on Driftmark on the condition that they contribute ships to his fleet.

During the Daughters' War, Daeron joined his cousin Alyn in the attack on the Braavosi fleet in the Stepstones, stationed around Bloodstone. The attack was a complete victory for the Velaryon fleet, but Daeron perished when his ship True Heart went down in battle against the Braavosi.
