Skewering live invertebrates on barbed hooks in order to trick unsuspecting marine life into snagging their jowls on said hooks and being forcibly ripped from their natural habitat in a macabre game of tug-of-war is barbaric, primitive, and downright cruel.
Also, it has been scientifically proven that there is a better way. I'd explain the process myself, but I could never do as good a job as this video documentary:
That's what this mod does, literally.
To perform the above proven method of fish acquisition, simply equip a fishing rod, then right-click anywhere on a body of water where fishies live, and wait for the inevitable.
Finally a non-violent, scientifically-proven means of acquiring fish in Stardew Valley! You're welcome :)
Also, if you right-click a second time, right after the farmer jumps (you have 1/10th of a second to do it), you can get a perfect catch.
Fits well with Pacifist Valley.
Limitations
I'm not sure I can distribute the magnificent voice of Ernie on this site, so you'll have to acquire the sound file yourself. It's available on the Github repository here. Place fishy.wav in the mod's assets folder. Or use your own sound file, or none at all, it should still work without it.
I'm not sure it works with legendary fish yet.
