What's this?

QtPerformance is a simple addon that attempts to improve WildStar's performance in crowded areas such as Thayd or Illium by automatically reducing or turning off certain graphics settings when you enter these zones and restoring them when you leave.

You can configure QtPerformance by using the /qtp or /qtperformance slash commands.  From the configuration UI, you can choose which settings QtPerformance should manage, save your current graphics configuration, and specify which zones should be designated as "low quality zones."  By default, Thayd and Illium are included in this list, but you can add or remove as many zones as you like.

Important Notes

  • QtPerformance saves your graphics configuration the first time you start it up, and will use this saved configuration whenever you leave a low quality zone such as Thayd or Illium.  If you ever change your graphics settings, you must open /qtperformance and click the green Save Current Graphics Configuration button to make sure QtPerformance doesn't overwrite your changes the next time you enter a low quality zone.
  • Some settings may cause a degree of hitching or stuttering when you cross a zone line and QtPerformance needs to adjust your graphic.  Most notably, the View Distance setting will grant the most significant performance boost, but it will also cause the game to stutter for a few seconds when you exit a low quality zone, since WildStar will need to load all of the high detail terrain back into memory.  Make sure to disable this option if the hitching is unacceptable.
  • The Texture Quality setting will usually not provide any increase in framerate on most PCs, and will cause stuttering when leaving Thayd.  As a result, this setting is not normally recommended. Howeversome users may notice that turning down texture quality causes the game to feel smoother when moving the camera around in busy areas, even if framerate stays the same, so you may want to experiment with this setting.
