Random Items Filter to New Items Occasionally

Every now and then bags will sort all items into the "Recent items" category regardless of how long they've been in your bags. I hope the attached screenshot shows why this is a problem. (It goes off the screen.)
Most times you can work around it temporarily by closing/reopening bags, or by clicking the "Reset new items" button. This doesn't always work. This started happening a couple of versions ago, I believe as of 1.8.0. I'm currently running 1.8.2.
Having the exact same issue. However, pressing the N button does fix it for me - at least most of the time. Unfortunately it happens far too frequently to ignore.
I'm encountering this also with auto-sort disabled. I find the Reset new items" button tricks works mostly. This has only started happening for me since 6.03 patch. I'm using the current release 1.8.2. I haven't tried the alpha you posted to see if it helps or not yet.
I experience the same issue and yes, I have auto-sort enabled. I can trigger it sometimes by double-tapping B to close/open my backpack quickly.

After experimenting with it a bit, the problem appears to happen more often when I'm buying and selling with a vendor npc. Especially if, while buying and selling, I'm opening and closing bags.
It may be unrelated, but I often notice that when I close or open adibags, I get a quick flash animation on random item icons in the bag. The animation is the one that plays when an item has an updated quantity. This happens even when the quantity of that item hasn't changed. (Screenshot of flash below, on the red Goblin Glider Kits in Miscellaneous)
