Spams 'added to collection' on login but items aren't earned nor collected

- Flavor: Random expansion sets.
Upon logging into a character, it starts spamming the added to collection message with source ID's. Upon looking in my collection none of the items are there. They are not collected nor earned, I have not completed the quests required to collect them.
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Log into random character.
- Change the added to collection message appears in chat.
- Click item ID link to appearance collection tab.
- Collection tab just opens and doesn't show a specific item or location, nothing new, first page of gear slot tab for the type of gear supposedly collected.
- Search specific item name and add all factions and races and sift through all classes to see nothing there still.
- Ctrl click item ID in chat to see what it should look like and see that you can't find it by scanning the pages yourself.
Some of the sets I saw appear today were Resilient Outcast's set, Exiled Veteran's set, Lastwind set, Nazmani Warplate set, and Death-Pledged set, all from quests in BfA I haven't completed on any character.
Pretty sure this is the retroactive sourceID completion you are getting upon login.

No, I do not have them still and never earned them.
Well, I'm telling you what those notifications mean. We don't trigger them from other scenarios, those come directly from event notifications.
If you were to log into a horde character, you would have that appearance collected and usable. We were all granted retroactive completion for every quest in the game (that we've completed on any character) and a lot of times that includes opposite faction equivalent appearances.
For example, type this into your chat:
/att i:159990
You'll notice that you have the appearance collected according to ATT. Do not rely on the collection tab to show you opposite faction appearances. It simply doesn't show them since you will not be able to transmog it on that character.
