Classic Rage Log

Your one-stop-shop for all things logging rage generated from SWING_DAMAGE events!

What does this addon do?

It collects data. Whenever a player who uses rage successfully lands an auto-attack with SWING_DAMAGE on an enemy, it will capture the next UNIT_POWER_FREQUENT event from the player and store it in a table alongside some other data (like player name, level, the target name, damage amounts, etc).

Okay, but what does it do?

Visually, there's not much going on. Most of what's being done is just the internal data-collection.

However:

You can view the collected data in a window by typing /crl or /classicragelog into the chat window.

Why are you collecting this data?

In vanilla, before The Burning Crusade, the formula for how warriors and bears generate rage from the damage they deal is rage = damage * 7.5 * (rage constant). This constant changes with each player level, and it's that constant whose value is unknown. The only confirmed value for this constant in vanilla is at level 60, with a value of 230.3.

The purpose of this addon is to have a tool for collecting the data necessary to figure out this rage conversion constant at each level, as well as determine what the formula for it might be -- if it wasn't manually set by the developers -- alongside some other potential unknowns in the way that rage works. The estimated value of the constant based on just the hit that it logged is stored alongside the rest of the data in the table all the way at the end of each entry, but the real work comes in the larger statistical analysis.

Why do you want to find the rage constants?

Because I do, okay!? Stop badgering me, DAD!

What do I do with this data?

Save it in a text file and send it to me! I have multiple ways you can send me this data! The links are all at the top! Or you can leave the links to the files in the comments below. And while you're at it, if you want to throw some spare change my way as a tip, the link to my Patreon is also there.

Who are you?

Just some guy who wanted to make the Fight Club discord server happy with pure data on an aspect of vanilla that is not very well-known. I do lots of other stuff online, but not much of note.
