About Taunt Alert

Taunt Alert was originally developed as an ElvUI plugin in Classic WoW to assist with tank communication on boss fights that require a tank-swap.  Sometimes a taunt will fail and the other tank needs to react quickly, using defensive cooldowns to survive.  Knowing immediately whether your partner tank has taunted yet, and if it failed is key to a successful tank team.

Hunter and Warlock pet taunts were later added because few things are more annoying than a pet using Taunt on cooldown in a dungeon.

Features

Context-based Monitoring

As a tank, you may only want TauntAlert notifications when in a Party or Raid.  TauntAlert provides you with the ability to enable/disable Taunt tracking based on your current activity context:

  • Solo (not in a group)
  • Party
  • Raid
  • BG (in a Battleground)

Display Notifications

When a taunt or threat-transfer ability is detected, TauntAlert will print a message on the screen with information about the Taunt.  By default, these messages will be printed to your General Chat window (only you will see these messages).  If you would like the messages displayed elsewhere you can configure TauntAlert to "Announce To HUD", which will print the messages to a moveable Frame.  (click "Toggle Anchors" at the bottom of the ElvUI settings screen to see and move the "TauntAlert Announcements" frame)

Sound Effects

In the middle of a hectic fight, visual notifications can go unnoticed.  TauntAlert provides relation-based sound effect configuration for both Successful and Failed Taunts.  This gives you the option to use different Sounds Effects (or no Sound Effect) for:

  • Your successful/failed Taunts
  • Party-member successful/failed Taunts
  • Party-pet successful/failed Taunts
  • Party threat-transfer abilities
  • Non-party member successful/failed Taunts
  • Non-party pet successful/failed Taunts
  • Non-party threat-transfer abilities

Tracked Abilities

TauntAlert has grown to track a large number of abilities, including Misdirect(Hunter), Tricks of the Trade(Rogue), Growl(pet), etc.  You may only want notifications for some of these "taunts", so we've added a Configuration screen to give you the ability to enable/disable any of these Taunts.
