Addon crash and taking WoW with it

Ok before I get down to business, I have to say great guides I enjoy them and have just started on horde and I am looking at pretty high standards. This next character will make 6 different toons; all with the guides. Keep up this guide because people like me will use it years to come.

Ok now down to business, I had just had switched to v1.6.1 new add-on from tourguide and I have been using the guide on specifically my level 72 blood/frost night elf death knight in the blade edge mountains guide and I went to check off a note and wow crashed then I restarted the game and I logged into my death knight and loading screen went dead I had to start up task manager and had to end the game by crashing the process. I could log into my death knight if I disabled the guide. I consider this a serious issue. About an hour before this was written I was on my horde and the game crashed from checking a note again. This was a level 6 tauren druid the guide was in muglore.

So at the moment I am not using the add-on or the guide for fear that the rest of toons will have the same the thing happen.

I think a good solution would be to have the guide in this new wow-pro add-on format and tourguide combatable info, I noticed that the guides have the same format in both add-ons so I don't see much work to be done to do this.

Thanks for your time on this subject, and action you will take to correct this bug.

Any other ideas on helping me on this bug will be much appreciated.

Cheers all,
Sarry

Thanks, we are working on these crash problems. In the meantime:

  • if the scrollbar option is turned on, try to disable it (like, by logging in with another character that shares the same display profile);
  • if the problem continues, delete the WoWPro file in the WTF/.../savedvariables/ folder. This will unfortunately cause your display options and the guides to reset to the default. But it's a workaround to the problem, until we fix it completely.

In terms of making it Tour-Guide compatible - you're welcome to modify the guide files yourself to do this, as you said it isn't too hard. But no coordinates will be displayed without significant modification, and many other features the guide has come to depend on will not be available. It's definitely not something we plan on supporting - it's too much work and we have no control with what Tekkub will do with Tour Guide - he taught us that already by temporarily taking down his addon altogether when he sold it to Zygor.
