What this set does:

This collection of 99 weakauras displays BEST BUTTON TO PRESS AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. It was created using the Icy Veins rotational guide: https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/windwalker-monk-pve-dps-rotation-cooldowns-abilities

Philosophy:

Taking a MINIMALIST approach, this weakaura set displays as few icons as possible - usually just a few - only the important stuff for any given second. It changes, in real time, from single target to multi-target and adapts to what talents you are using. This set is a bit more comprehensive than some of my other sets as I use it on my main toon. I made this set because I thought I could make a BETTER set than what I could find and had some time to do so over the holidays.

Features:

WW monk provided some unique challenges due to the fact that there are really many different combinations of rotations. This set includes multi target and single target rotations, with or without Serenity. and if Serenity, whether or not you can get two Rising Sun Kicks in Serenity's duration with Bloodlust at which point, the rotation truely becomes a rotation and not a priority list. Yes, I take into account all that. I also make sure we stick w/in the dictates of Mastery: Combo Strikes (can't cast same spell twice). What you get as a result, is one icon displaying the spell to cast.

This set includes some clever OTHER features like how much karma was absorbed, health as a percent, debuff trackers, whodied announcements, combat time, targets in range, repair, lust, potion, cool resource displays with predictive gains, interrupts, dispells,, duration timers, healer mana for m+, healer drinking, "Healer out of Range" aura, bonus damage tracker, etc. It's truly amazing what weakauras can do!

Ease:

But don't let ALL these features scare you off! I only display what you need to know at THAT moment, changing dynamically, in real-time, without any hassle. In addition, I use "check every frame" tigger sparingly and I never use "full CPU scan" tiggers. I also keep the animations to a minimum to avoid load lag when entering combat. I spent a good deal of time on this set. Please enjoy and LET ME KNOW HOW TO IMPROVE. This will most likely get a few more iterations as I'm still testing it

TL:DR - This is the best* weakaura set you'll import!

*(for ww monk)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This set of weakauras looks at ENEMY NAMEPLATES. If you can not see them, neither can the weakaua and thus will not work properly. Please ENABLE NAMEPLATES! . To enable nameplates, press CTRL v on your keyboard. I ALSO recommend you make sure your nameplates are CLAMPED TO SCREEN This will allow the nameplates to show when say, a boss for example, is taller than your screen. To "clamp to screen", go into your setting of your nameplates and look for a check box OR copy/paste this into your chat:

/script SetCVar("nameplateOtherBottomInset", 0.1);SetCVar("nameplateOtherTopInset", 0.08)

OPTIONAL FONTS & TEXTURES:

When creating this set, I used NON-DEFAULT FONT called INTRO BLACK which is much thicker and easier to read. It is included in the Elvui Shadow & Light addon (which is a companion to Elvui - you need both if you want this font). By default, weakauras uses Friz Quadrata TT. A good font, but thinner and harder to read. For textures, I use SharedMedia: Diabolic. which requires the SharedMedia addon (you need both if you want this texture). There are ways of adding fonts without these addons, but a bit complex to install. But if interested, check out SharedMedia and this video. I, however, recommend just choosing a font that you like, that is already installed.

Again, THE FONTS AND TEXTURES ARE OPTIONAL AND NOT REQUIRED

UPDATES:

***UPDATED - TOTAL 8.1 REVAMP!

***UPDATED - 1.0.1 (12/31/18)

  • Added a predictive resource bar, better whodied announcements, better alignment, added target health bar, target health as a number with colored conditionals, fixed Ironskin Brew to display once, took out the interrupt sound and replaced with obvious animation so you are not spammed with noise, "smater" out of range text for both off tank and healer, better targeting name display, added better "too far" warning, added Spinning Crane Kick debuff tracker with "x of x" display, added Attack Power text and Physical damage bonus text, took out the text being class colored and replaced with white to keep everything consistant

***UPDATED - 1.0.2 (12/31/18)

  • fixed target health display issue, fixed Spinning Crane Kick debuff tracker, improved bonus damage tracker

TODO

  • create an animated gif of auras, add target triggers for enemy health (nodead), add target triggers for "hostile" and "attackable", add unit in range triggers, hide spell aura when casting that spell, add cast bar?, revisit talents and make sure I didn't miss anything, test, retest, and test again.

NOTE: The example video has a lot of other addons going. In addition, I have a circle around my mouse while in combat. Those are NOT included. Just the auras ABOVE my bars which, in this case, is on the left side. Hopefully, you get the gist. If not, there is no harm in importing and, if you don't like, right clicking on the entire group and choosing "delete children and group" to get rid of the set.

ADJUST TO FIT YOUR SCREEN

Scaling

About modifying the group for your needs, I can help a little. First, after typing /wa in chat and opening the options, on the left coloumn, what you have selected matters. For example, you could have the whole set selected or just the individual aura in the set. When the group is selected (the one with "+" sign in the lower, right corner), you can then go to the "Group" tab on the right (doesn't show unless the group is selected) , and choose the scaling feature. I play in 4k so on my screen they are small. But on your screen, they are probably bigger than you would like. Dropping the scaling down will solve this.

Moving Group/Auras

To move around, you can use the Group tab again and enter values or you can just click on the icons and drag. To move individual icons, you can go to the Display tab.. but BE CAREFUL. The big icons in the center are in order. But the icons on the left, right, top, and bottom can be adjusted without too much trouble. Some are stacked to talent tier to conserve space. I try and label every aura very well so you can see which one to adjust easily. But if you do mess everything up, you can select the group on the left column, right click, choose delete group and children, then re-import and you are starting from scratch again.

Selections

A cool feature of weakaura2 is that, in the left column, once you open the group up by clicking the "+" sign in the lower right of the group, you can select the auras much like Window 10 works. For example, you can select individual auras for moving by holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and clicking each aura you'd like to adjust. Alternatively, you can hold down shift and it will select everything in between the two you click on. This allows you to move groups of auras that are stacked quite easily. And of course, you can also click and drag these selected groups, both on your ui and in the left hand column.

Disabling

Lastly, if you want to turn on/off certain auras, you can! Load tab has a "Never" check box. This works for the entire group or just the individual aura. Just depends on what is selected on the left column. The only one that HAS to show is the Enemies In Range as that is the one that "counts" nameplates and gives that info to other auras. But it can be moved no problem.

Hope these basics help. Cheers!

Windwalker Monk Overview

The Windwalker specialisation has strong priority target damage, very good AoE damage, and smooth rotations. In terms of actual output, it is likely to be on par with most other melee specialisations. Moreover, Windwalkers generally perform well in dungeons.

Patch 8.1 Changes for Windwalker Monk

Although Windwalker Monk remains very much the same in 8.1, several very relevant tuning changes have changed the specialisation to be much less burst focused. This indirectly benefits the AoE kit.

  • The damage of most abilities has been increased by 8.2%.

  • Touch of Death now deals 35% of your Health pool as damage, down from 50%.

  • Touch of Karma now redirects 70% of the damage prevented, down from 100%.

  • Good Karma now heals you for the damage prevented, instead of increasing the shield.

  • Crackling Jade Lightning now deals damage instantly when used.

  • Rushing Jade Wind now lasts only 6 seconds and costs 1 Chi.

  • Swift Roundhouse, Iron Fists, and Meridian Strikes have been removed.

  • Dance of Chi-Ji, Glory of the Dawn, and Fury of Xuen have been added.

Patch 8.0.1 Changes for Windwalker Monk

Windwalker has had several significant changes to its talents, however the rest of the kit remained mostly the same.

  • Blackout Kick now reduces the cooldown of Rising Sun Kick and Fists of Fury by 1 second.

  • Many abilities that were not on the global cooldown are now affected by it, like Storm, Earth, and Fire and Serenity.

  • Fists of Fury now deals half its damage to targets beyond the first.

  • Spinning Crane Kick now only gains 10% damage per target with Mark of the Crane, down from 40%. It is also capped at 5 buffs for now. However, its cost went down to 2 Chi.

  • Touch of Death now has the baseline effect of dealing 10% of the damage you dealt to its target over the course of the debuff.

Strengths

  • Exceptional mobility;

  • High priority-target damage;

  • Flexible cooldowns and AoE tools.

Weaknesses

  • As the only DPS specialisation for Monks, Windwalkers are susceptible to class balance changes.

  • Windwalker Monks do not have access to immunities or very strong defensive cooldowns.

  • Currently, Windwalker Monks rely heavily on Touch of Karma to do competitive damage output.
