First Mole on the Moon

This modpack aims to offer a balanced experience for those wishing to explore outer space and therefore does not include any mods that feel too overpowered and would spoil the challenge. Each mod has also been carefully configured in order to work as well as possible with each other to create a seamless experience.

For example, items added by multiple mods have been unified to make gameplay cleaner and unnecessary items have been removed from JEI in order to reduce clutter, making things easier to find.

Similarly, the energy units have been changed to RF wherever possible for consistency and ease.

Other Quality of Life features include tooltips that explain confusing items such as saying which types of Biome each Biomes O' Plenty gem can be found in and which types of leaves drop each fruit.

Also, Sealable Pipes and Wires are Sticky Buffers, which allows Sealable Pipes and Wires to be part of a ship/airship and yet still connect to other Pipes and Wires that are not part of the ship/airship. This can be used to load and unload your Davinci's Vessels easily and automatically.

Buildcraft's oil system is used instead of Galacticraft's oil system since it is more powerful and interesting with the ability to distill oil into many different types of fuel. The use of Buildcraft pumps and pipes also makes collecting oil less tedious. If you get stuck or don't fancy the challenge read the spoiler below to find out about how to build a refinery.

Here is a list of the fluids that can be distilled and their products:

Oil (Cool) → Gaseous Fuel and Heavy Oil

Oil (Hot) → Mixed Light Fuels and Dense Oil

Oil (Searing) → Distilled Oil and Residue

Heavy Oil (Hot) → Light Fuel and Dense Oil

Heavy Oil (Searing) → Mixed Heavy Fuels and Residue

Dense Oil (Searing) → Dense Fuel and Residue

Distilled Oil (Cool) → Gaseous Fuel and Mixed Heavy Fuels

Distilled Oil (Hot) → Mixed Light Fuels and Dense Fuel

Mixed Heavy Fuels (Hot) → Light Fuel and Dense Fuel

Mixed Light Fuels (Cool) → Gaseous Fuel and Light Fuel

In order to heat up a fluid, put it into the bottom of a fully connected Heat Exchanger (three in a row should form a multiblock) and put a fluid you wish to cool into the opposite end of the Heat Exchanger. Use Lava to kickstart your refinery and use Water to cool any excess fluids.

The most important fuel is Light Fuel since this is the fuel rockets use and even Residue can come in handy for crafting more Pipe Sealant.

Note that Applied Energistics 2 Certus Quartz Ore and Meterorites only generate on the Moon in order to incentivise space exploration and add progression, since travelling to the Moon will unlock a new tier of technology. More lightheartedly, Cheesecakes are now crafted using Cheese Curd from the Moon.

In addition, there are three custom Jetpacks which are invaluable in getting around in the Overworld as well as in Space. The Tier 1 Jetpack can be crafted using materials found in the Overworld, however you will have to venture to the Moon in order to make the Tier 2 Jetpack and to Mars in order to make the Tier 3 Jetpack. They are expensive pieces of kit, but well worth the cost as nothing can beat strapping a rocket to your back and taking to the skies!

Furthermore, mobs no longer spawn in the Asteroids dimension as this does not feel right and way too many mobs spawn otherwise. Similarly Mystic Groves and Sacred Springs are also safe havens from hostile mobs, which complements their healing Hot Spring Water.

Many of the Biomes O' Plenty plants such as Roots have been made renewable. Simply harvest crops with a shovel for a chance to dig up some Roots. Each level of Fortune increases the chances of finding Roots. Poison Ivy can be obtained from breaking Ivy with an axe in the same way.

Grass, Lily Pads, Sugar Cane, Wheat and Oak Saplings can all be chiselled into Biomes O' Plenty plants and other Biomes O' Plenty plants can be obtained renewably using a Crafting Table, Furnace or Quartz Grindstone.

It is recommended that you use the resource pack included because it fixes missing textures and spelling mistakes. It also changes the options background from plain old Dirt to the industrial looking Large Hexagonal Plating.
