The Mustard Virus has gone global and wiped out humanity.

You're all that remains, well - you and the endless waves of infected. How long can you last?

Will your base be strong enough to stop the horde?

The infected are relentless.

They're attracted to light, sound, and most of all - players.

Sunlight no longer has any effect on them, and they'll stop at nothing to get to you!

—— Zombie Apocalypse by Forge Labs

Zombie Apocalypse Remastered is a recreation modpack from Zombie Apocalypse originally by Forge Labs, focusing on a more balanced, progressive, and most importantly plug and play experience based on Zombie Apocalypse's modlist and configs.

I am one of the huge fans of Forge Labs' video series, and Survived 100 Days truly brought seas of us to its basis modpack, but not every single players could get access to that marvellous team and idea and scenario to work a masterpiece out. Well, players only want a kind of prgressive and exciting gameplay immersed in which one could fight against the zombie waves 24/7.

Feeling a little bit upset after found out that every "mutant" stuff are manually created and the modpack was born for content creators, but not folk players, I decided to remaster it with automatically progressive mechanics introduced by various mods, together with some tweaks on configs and by CraftTweaker.

Zombie Apocalypse Remastered recommends a 3GB plan for the server.

Mentionable Features

  • Your surviving story will begin with a starter kit from which you can select a loadout in case of being pinned down immediately after joining in, zombies won't wait until you made yourself a wooden sword! Each loadout have a class-specified set, currently including Assault, Explosion, Sniper and Medic;
  • We got Lost Cities in the pack and it's highly recommended to choose Lost Cities (BOP) world type when creating worlds, and in the Customize interface choose biosphere, onlycities, or wasteland to get the best experience;
  • YUNG's Better Caves to overhaul the underground terrain;
  • Every hostiles will drop money after death, they will derectly be in your FTB Money balance when getting close, in the FTBM Shop there are accessories like grips, suppressors, optic sights, and medkit etc. waiting for ka-chings;
  • Unlike ZA, ZAR is not designed for Hardcore mode, and managed to make death-related machanics balanced enough. Thanks to CraftTweaker, Corpse and Corpse Complex, after being killed you'll get a scroll (sorry for this bit of inappropriate smell of magic) to warp back to the death location and reclaim your things in your corpse, but it costs 3,500 per use, otherwise you would have to run back empty-handed, with some protective status effects in order to avoid being slained half way;
  • The more you travel away from your spawn point, the more powerful mobs would be, this is simultaneously realized by Danger Lies Ahead and Scaling Health. Strengthening yourself is also possible with DLA's upgrading system;
  • Mobs' mutant and siege gameplay is now automatically done by Scaling Health and Hostile Worls - Invasions. The difficulty is increased second by second, and every 5 days from the fifth game day by default a wave of well armed zombies and maybe more would come right to get you. Simple World Timer would help you to do the day count.
  • Nether Portal is disabled by No Nether Portals, but you still can get there with the help of Mini Portal;
  • Abandoned and replaced some of the mods, mostly client-side and visual enhancement mods which ZA originally has, in order to improve the pack's performance a bit, if you like, add them back!
  • More tweaks you would feel like enjoying while playing.

Vic's Modern Warfare Gun Tooltips Overhaul

Zombie Apocalypse Remastered highlights the most mentionable feature done mainly via CraftTweaker --- Overhauling every single tooltips of the guns to more detailed, accurate and nice-looking ones, currently it's not completely done yet, but more than half of them is available for English (US) and Simplified Chinese now. All the texts, if from actual item names, would honor the corresponding items' current names, so excluding the titles, it should be ok with other languages.

Independent VMW gun tooltips overhaul is now available HERE.

  1. Download the zip
  2. Install three required mods: CraftTweakerZen UtilsResource Loader
  3. Drag and drop the two folders in the zip directly into your .minecraft and here you go!

Below are some previews about this feature.

PLAN

  • ZAR hasn't done much to the recipes provided by Vic' Modern Warfare yet. It deserves a deep discover on what could be done to remake a more interesting way to produce the materials like gunmetals, and the bullets.
  • The initial recipes for the guns are also sometimes unreasonable, maybe it'd be fun to create a branch progressing line encouraging players to research gun technology at first to make path for actually making the guns, it might be done with the help of Research Table mod.
  • The variety of mobs is surely going to be increased and balanced, and Mob Stages mod would help to make it progressive too.
  • Mission and reward system

The modpack includes lines of localizable strings mainly for VMW Tooltips, located in oresources/zarcus/lang, you would be hugely appreciated for contributing localizations for more languages!

TROUBLESHOOTING

Click the "issue" tag above, submit and keep track of the issues there. Any suggestions, feature request etc. should go to the comment below.

Current issues:

Its compatibility to multiplayer is yet to be implemented. Players at inferior permission groups may have messages informing low command permission when picking up money items on the ground. However it won't stop money items from going into the balance. It is caused by an aggresive way taken used in the event. Hopefully fixed the problem in 0.1.2b, not tested.

NOTE

Like Zombie Apocalypse, ZAR also requires OptiFine for the best performance. The pack is developed with preview_OptiFine_1.12.2_HD_U_G6_pre1 installed and Sora Shaders enabled, all configs has been editted to make all stuff compatible as possible.
