What are Diamethysts?
Legend tells of an alchemist who conducted unorthodox experiments in an attempt to combine precious gems - to create a new crystalline material that could harness mystical energy. The results of these experiments became known as Diamethysts. The power contained within these crystals is said to transform when combined with other base materials - iron, gold, copper, lapis lazuli, emerald, and diamond - and might be used to forge powerful weapons, tools, and armor.

It is said that the alchemist also created several powerful artifacts that were lost over time. Maybe they are still out there waiting to be discovered?

Start by crafting a diamethyst crystal.

Check the Minecraft recipe book or JEI for other recipes.

Features:

  • A richer crafting experience. No more ingot-on-a-stick shovels or diamond plate armor (that was a thing?). A sword requires a hilt. A hilt requires a leather bound stick. You get the idea.
  • Balanced gameplay. No getting the kill-everything-sword on day one!
  • Swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes, armor - all more powerful and have greater durability than their vanilla counterparts.
  • Bows that do more damage the longer they are fully drawn back before loosing an arrow.
  • Arrows that affect mobs and/or blocks in various ways, and fly further when shot from a diamethyst bow.
  • Sickles! A much faster weapon than a clumsy old sword.
  • Battle Axes! Much slower than a sword, but they pack a hefty wallop.
  • Scimitars that are slightly faster to use than a sword.
  • Fully configurable weapon, tool, and armor stats.
  • Potions! Do or do not drink... there is no try (well, you could try something other than drinking them).
  • Use the added power of netherite to make even more powerful weapons, tools, and armor.
  • A variety of horse armors to keep your equine babies safe - with extra buffs while you're riding them.
  • Budding diamethyst blocks that can (slowly) grow diamethyst clusters for crystal harvesting. However, they do not spawn naturally. Maybe they can be created somehow?
  • Shards of broken diamethyst crystals that can be found while exploring.
  • Lost artifacts. (happy hunting!)

Why So Vague?

  • I wanted to provide players a chance to figure out how how things work on their own by experimentation - sort of like the alchemist who created the diamethysts.
  • My preference is to not post spoilers in the chat of this page.
  • Of course, if you want to know how something works, reach out to me via DM or join my discord server and seek help there.
